I did no investigation on this and pretty much went with overall rank for choices with the exception of my team. Cant pick against my own team even with the uphill battle it will be.

Still think you should play teams in your own tier more often than those in other tiers. And playing teams two tiers up or down from you should be rare. I mean, there are still some teams in my own tier that I've never played before.

Maybe I'm just a teensy bit upset that MEM opens up against a Pro team.

Seattle's got a quality test. Should be fun, especially with their new fangled offense.

MEM & SoA got boned. Guaranteed losses. Those of us who drew Journeyman teams are still in pretty deep, but at least we have a chance.

Ya choosing MEM was tough but also 14 overall ranking + the staff on MEM. Giving them a shot.

This in my opinion is also the flaw in the per tier trophy system. We just don't/won't play within our tier as much. I enjoyed playing vs our own top 10 a lot to gage how good we were really within our tier. There are also certain builds on players that with 35k to 70k more sp are just very near hard to stop.
