When I built a different safety and focused on speed and tackling he didn't give up near as many receptions. Any explanation?

Yeah, he's got 62 zone awareness, 58 cover tech, 50 man awareness, and 32 deflect.

If he wasn't terrible, he'd be pretty good.

Also safeties have inflated Targeted/Allowed because of the way coverages are.

Well, one would assume that zone awareness, man awareness, and cover tech being p maxed out wouldn't be "shit cover skills" just because deflect is only 32. What is the point of awareness and cover tech if a player's cover skill is 100% decided by deflect? Sounds like coverage is broken if only one attribute accounts for all of a defenders ability.

You say his Cover Skills are "maxed out" but that he's got 62 zone awareness, 58 cover tech, 50 man awareness, and 32 deflect.

So those are his skills and they are at his caps?

If so, then what Kayoh means is that the absolute value of his skills is too low. He needs a build with higher Awareness and Agility Attributes to get better caps on Cover Tech, Man/Zone Awareness.

58 Cover Tech isn't good enough to be an elite coverage defender. Neither is 32 deflect.

I don't want him to be an elite cover safety. I built him more for run support. I just didn't think he would be useless against the pass.
