Another week! Only a few really interesting matchups this week. We've seen worse weeks for sure though.
The top 10 matchups:
#1 Air Raid vs #11 MMArmy Can Crushers
- This is a big one. Air Raid dropped the Minnesota game last week, so our hold on the #1 rank is at risk this week. Enter MMArmy, who just had their perfect season ruined in a league game by Minnesota. Now they have the opportunity to do Minnesota a solid by knocking off Air Raid in the ladder. It's also a great chance for them to finally punch into the top 10 rankings officially. Let's not kid ourselves though, MMArmy is a top 5 team waiting to happen, and has been playing at that level all season. This should be a good game. There were some scrimmages before, so Adderfist probably can't roll out his base defense and win due to the scouting that was able to be done. I'm considering some changes to the Air Raid redzone offense (watching TE drive fail from "& goal" situations 4 yards from the endzone has finally gotten old). And of course, how will the CiT scandal impact the outcome? Air Raid's got as many superstar pass catchers as anyone, so we stand to benefit probably the most from the bug fix.
#2 Minnesota Stunners vs #15 Rusty's Ruins
- Welcome back to the top 15 Rusty! Your reward is the nastiest rushing attack in GLB2. The Ruins looked really good on defense shutting down D'Haran. Can they duplicate that type of sucesss against Minnesota? I'm guessing probably not. Minnesota wins.
#3 The Salty Runback vs #14 Andes Chinchillas
- I bet this is a fun matchup for the Andes guys. Seems like it's been awhile since they got a crack at Salty? In any event, Andes has been hanging around the top 15, and Salty has been solidly top 5 this season. An upset is possible, but unlikely. I'll pick Salty.
# 4Portland Ronin vs #22 Los Cabos Sharks
- Portland just keeps on doing their thing. Probably realistically a top 10 type squad that is going to steadily slip the rest of the season. Los Cabos just had really nice upsets of Cobra Kai and New Jersey recently. They've played much better than their ranking of late. Still, I think Portland's running game is probably more than Los Cabos can handle.
#5 Harrisonburg Bulldogs vs #20 Ministry of Dotball
- Ministry's about where they should be at this point. I can't imagine they'll have enough to overcome Harry. Rather cruise control last couple of ladders for Tdiddy's squad.
#6 New Jersey Generals vs #17 Ellix Burghers
- This is a game Ellix can win if Tdiddy is motivated. NJ's been on a bit of a slide of late. They're really starting to feel the pain of the legends chemistry hits.
#7 Louisiana Screaming Pelicans vs #8 Stark Dire Wolves
- Good matchup here! Stark's on an 0-4 ladder run, but they've made up for it by winning 3 key league games recently. LSP just keeps doing what they do with the passing game and are on a nice 7 game win streak. I actually think LSP wins this one fairly solidly. Stark's really struggled with the better passing attacks they've faced.
#9 Cobra Kai vs #24 Richmond Redskins
- The Kai haven't quite put it together yet this season. With chemistry basically recovered, there shouldn't be any excuses the rest of the way. There's too much talent on the roster to not start winning regularly again. They've been competitive, but have dropped a couple more games than they should've to this point. This isn't a game they'll lose though. Richmond is outmatched pretty badly here.
#10 Legacy vs #29 Gatling Valley Pirates
- This is a fun one! No really. Gatling Valley is a team we haven't been able to talk about yet, but they're one of the competitive Season 3 teams finally reaching the upper echelon of the ladder. They're not quite to the level of Rhode Island or D'Haran, but they've got a chance to give Legacy some trouble. I'd actually consider them to be a simlar team to Legacy on the whole. Especially with Legacy suffering some Legends chemistry issues. I'm going to go with Gatling Valley in the upset! Now go gameplan and don't fail me. Apologies to AirMcMVP.
