Once a player is below 50%, he should get a small chance to trigger a morale gain at the start of every play, based on intimidation and heart and toughness. Defense has no leadership skill to triumph a realistic recovery and a player who has 60 in toughness, intimidation and 40 in heart shouldn't be playing at 20 morale etc. I think a player like that would self motivate. Offense or defense. But obviously offense doesnt play that low if the builds are average or better.

I'm just thinking of ways to help balance down the offense, and the answer to me is somehow battling leadership. The change to QB's morale fueling leadership has proven to not be as a game changer. Without nerfing the skill directly, we need to somehow either buff defense. I'm not saying a defensive captain, with a similar leadership ability like Pack Leader could be created, I'm not saying a DC can assign a defensive player to carry 'the mic' and give that player a like-leadership ability based off his heart+intimidation skill, I'm not really suggesting that stuff because I know it won't happen. It's gotta be simple buffs or nerfs, and I just know defense's morale has gotta come up somehow. Asking players to throw more into physical stuff, while allowing offense to continue to go skill-heavy is just not fair, and not a solution.

Anyone else have some ideas? I know no one wants to nerf Prime Time, but the trash talk and beatdown nerf just haven't re-faced the game like it needs. Actually, I don't necessarily think it needs re-facing. 110-10 point games don't bother me because this is a video game. But I think an offense with great builds trumps a DC's ability to stop them, run or pass. It's almost as if the offense get's to see how well they do on dice rolls, and that is the outcome of a heated game.

Up for discussion, people agree, disagree?

Maybe a Linebacker SA? Something you don't HAVE TO GET, but maybe devote it to one player? Not sure. I like the idea - not sure it could be implemented.

If the QB is the leader of the offense, someone needs to be the leader of the defense. Possibly pick up an SA that does for defense, what leadership does for a QB

Im not a fan of an SA, it's not fair if your team has a guy go inactive and gets cut, and there's no one on free agency with it, or say you have a few guys all stuck with it because they can't respec out of it.

Also the best suggestions for this game are ones that can just be number tweeks. I think mine is a good suggestion to help the D not get curb stomped if 1 or 2 guys get wrecked by some beat downs and prime times and can't recover. Just an idea.

Not a SA, but a LB skill akin to QB Leadership would help.

That's what great MLBs do. (in the NFL)

I'm all for buffing defense. idk if this is the route that should be taken though. Personally I would like to see after 6-7 seconds the d-line auto shed their block.

I think any 1st and 10 play where the gain is for 3 yards or less should yield no leadership buff, and the defense should have a chance to gain 1 morale. The higher the Qb's leadership, the less likely the defense will get a chance to trigger a morale gain. In this way, you don't need to add a new skill or do anything crazy.

Any 2nd down where where the gain is 2 yards or less, and leaves 4 yards to go the defense should have the chance to gain a morale point. Any third down stop, even if the play was positive in yardage, should give the defense a chance to gain a morale point.

I think the MLB having leadership skill makes the most sense. They are usually the defensive playcallers and heart of the D. They are a 150 so makes sense in glb2. As long as multiple LBs having it doesn't combine making defensive morale skyrocket. Just take the highest skill.

This was what I was trying to say. Basically only will be active when that LB plays in a MLB, or any ILB role. If there are 2 that have the skill, its a random pull of which LB gets the ability to boost morale.

I want to say I remember GLB1 had that same idea.

Get rid of leadership all together or make Leadership more of a late game consistency skill. Heart should be a replenishing skill already.

The worst thing about breaking a block is the ability of O players to pick up the block again almost immediately. Shouldn't that be a block in the back penalty or whatever?

The other worst thing is the defender not knowing where to run, so they beat the block and maybe even move away a little, but then they just stand there to get re-engaged.

You know there's going to be 1 QB on the field, so leadership being a seperate skill works. It's a waste for LB's to have it, if they aren't going to be the captain. I would do something like a LB in the MLB role it takes a mixture of intimidation and heart to calculate the defensive leadership factor. This way you can build MLB's with high intim and heart and not suffer your build if you get cut and find another team to play on where it's not used.
