Today we evaluate S* Odell Beckham III

Ok so I know that overall his build isn't great. I do beleive he should be preforming better than this though. He shakes loose defenders, but doesn't capitalize. Either due to the defense or due to errant passes. I have considered what the wonders of vertical and diving can do for errant passes, but I'm investing heavily on his hands atm. What do the trusty users on GLB2 think Odell Beckham III should invest in going forward?

My guess is he's losing out on catches due to his low Catch in Traffic and Rec Grip. Are you watching his games? Compiling the data? Is this the case?

Also, too many unfocused SAs. PT HF and FS are all great but you need to power your SAs. You haven't.

And considering you went Shifty, I would have gone for more Agility in attributes than Speed.

Get heart to 30 and then max out Rec Hands, then the rest of his receiving skills...follow that by getting speed to 90+ IMO.

If it were my build I would take speed down to 8 and agility to 10, that would raise his hands cap significantly. Take the extra point from confidence. Defintily avoid Prime Time with that build. With his high Route tech/elusiveness caps I would work on gold Head Fake.

If he were to pump Agility for Receiving Hands, he'd be wrong. This is how attributes influence Receiving Hands: Confidence: 1/3; Awareness: 1/3, Agility: 1/4, Strength 1/12

Confidence and Awareness are better investments to boost Receiving Hands. Confidence specially, also boosts Receiving Grip and Catch in Traffic, skills WRs often take a hit due to the Strength cut. Confidence is 33% for Receiving Grip and 41% of Catch in Traffic.

I always thought agility played a big role in hands. That makes sense though.

Yeah that's why I've been pumping points into hands and some now and then to grip. Speed was a better choice for me because he burns his opposing CB on most streak and post routes, but never gets targeted. When he is heavily covered PT activated 1/7 (when attempting jumping, diving, or endzone catches) times a game and he still drops the ball now and then (as of now its about 5/7 times that he will hold on when PT activates). As of now, we have a new S* QB who is better than the old one. I'm hoping that the high passing tech, accuracy, and awareness will cause Beckham to catch more of his targets. He rarely drops the ball now, just need him to get it.

Yep, speed also improves route skills, just not as much as agility.

HF is definitely top priority right now. When I first made him he was suppose to be slot, but instead he plays the 2. If I'm maxing out all receiving skills before 90 sprinting I think that may be a waste. If I maxed out his route skills and then his sprinting to 90, would that cause him to shake all defenders? Then max out the other receiving skills to make sure his T:C ratio stays above at least 65-75%

It's got a TINY effect on on Elusiveness, no effect on tech or any other receiving ability.

Agility, meanwhile, has a large effect on route Tech, even bigger on route elusivness, and an effect on hands (smaller than Awareness/Confidence).

Mabye it just depends on who is throwing to him. With an all around average built QB throwing to him, he preformed less than average. With a HB throwing to him he goes 5 for 9 with a 34-yard catch (and a small run). Our new QB is more accurate and has better pass awareness. His Heart and Leadership isn't as good though. I expect a better preformance though.

didnt read the rest of the discussion but id max CIT asap then get heart and toughness up a bit. if his problem is targets id work on quickness after that

I'd cap CIT and use every boost you can on it.

I know it's probably too late to do anything about it now...but Slot Machine is a terrible SA even for a slot receiver. If you could respec and get those AP back, or the SP you have in Return Awareness I would do it.

I don't think Slot Machine is as terrible as some say.

It's certainly not an ideal SA, but I've got it golded on my slot guy, and it's been the difference maker in close games before.

It doesn't fire as often, but it does fire in crucial situations.

I can't say I'd revisit it in the future, but I can't say I regret doing it, either.
