Whats the lowest you can get away with on conditioning on players? 40ish? What if I subbed often or not?

Depends on the position... but generally speaking I like to be at 50+.

Some positions you can probably get away with 40-45 with frequent subbing. Really my best advice to you is to watch replays and watch energy levels towards the end of the game. If you players are generally drained in most games - it's a great indication to raise your conditioning.

For OLine, you can get away with 40-45 Conditioning because you'll generally invest in Toughness and that helps with overall Energy depletion.

For WRs and HBs, you want high Conditioning (55-60) if you expect them to have a lot of plays per game. There's a strategy of having some WR/HB with low Conditioning so that they have very high skills, etc. They won't be on the field for very many plays per game, but when they are, they are dynamic.

A WR KR/PR wouldn't need high Conditioning per se if that's all they did.

For Defense, it's kind of like Offense. The farther away the player lines up from the ball, the more ground they cover during a game. Conditioning is like running endurance.

Interesting theory...would having 1 point of conditioning for every 1 play your player is in for on average make sense. My G is in for an avg of 35 plays a game so, 35 conditioning. My HB is in for 60 plays a game on avg so 60 conditioning. I don't think any position needs higher than 60.

To a degree.

On Creek Valley Beast, our S* HB has more Conditioning than our other HB. The S* HB has much higher play count, but not as high Rushing attempts (relatively) because Rushing drains more energy than picking up a blitzer or going out as 5th option on pass routes.

So it's not just plays per se. It's also the style of your Offense and Defense.

Do you play more low scoring games because you have a great D? Is the avg play count more like 60 per game or 90?

The best way to monitor it is to actually watch the games with analytical eye, especially the 4th Qtr and plays near the end of the game. If you're consistently below 50 for energy and/or morale, you need more.

Pure Offenses need a little less Conditioning than Balanced on the OLine because the OLine isn't going to lose many blocks and suffer extra energy/morale losses.

So it's team makeup, playbook and tactics too.

How high you take conditioning depends on how much your player is running significant distances. WRs, CBs, Man-coverage safeties. I wouldn't want less than 60.

Linemen get more drain from blocking engagements than running around, so they need more toughness and can get away with conditioning in the 40s. You better have toughness up to 50+ though, probably more like 60.

And all of it depends on whether or not you think it's important to have high energy or not.

One good thing about playing zone defense is the coverage guys don't need as much conditioning. Since in zone, the defenders are using mainly footwork and not flat out sprinting, less energy is used. Watch these 2 plays. They both last about the same amount of ticks.

Zone Def: CB3 starts off with 60 energy and ends the play with 46...loss of 14

Man Def: CB1 starts off with 49 energy and ends the play with 26...loss of 23
