Pacific Pro Week 5 Showcase
Southeast Asia Conference
Arkadak Deadliest Warriors @ Palembang Royally Drunken Monks
Honestly this might just be ADW’s last chance to establish themselves as a legitimate team in SEA. You’ve played two competitive games and lost both. I’m not going to lie, there’s zero reason to think that’s going to change against one of the Top Teams in SEA. It’s not even like their offense isn’t producing, but the problem is they’re only producing against CPU teams. They’ve been plagued with turnovers and missed tackles against quality competition. PRDM’s only loss was by 1 point against the, potentially, best team in the league, Razorback Nation; they’ve had some setbacks at times but they’ve overcome; they are clicking on all cylinders and I see no scenario in which that changes this week.
Prediction: 117 - 10
Godzilla Game of the Week
OffTopica Word @ Malaysian Madness
This could be an excellent game. It’s really hard to tell with OTW though because they got blown out in the one game they played against a competitive team that just happens to be 1-3 in the Oceania conference. It’s hard to make an assessment on them statistically because of all the CPU teams they’ve played. What I can say is in the first game of the season against OTM, they mustered almost no offense and couldn’t stop anything on the ground defensively. Thus far this season Malaysia has been Top 7 in every category but to be fair OTW looks ranked well as well and like them, M&M hasn’t faced anybody, but the one game they did play that was ‘competitive’ they lost big. The story of this game is actually pretty simple, they have to stop being themselves and be better, much better. They’re going to have to get some offense and defense figured out. Frankly…I think the winner of this game is going to be the one that gets at least 1 passing TD.
Prediction: Malaysian Madness 13-10
Oceania Conference
Christchurch Fighting Maori @ Kosovo Kryptonite
There is a real chance that this game will determine the 8th seed and the ‘Out’ Seed. Right now, I think that the Playoff teams for Oceania will come out of the Top 9 teams in the conference (currently ranked Top 9), this game could be a determining factor for which teams make the Top 8; there’s a lot of football left to be played but it’s hard to say how the season will play out, but to this point we might just have some idea. CFM has lost to two of the Top 7 teams in the Oceania Conference thus far whereas Kosovo has only played one team within that Top 7 group and failed to come away with a victory. Where I think both teams have failed is defensively with missed tackles, aside from that however, CFM simply has got to get more production offensively. I think both of these teams match up very well, this should actually be a very good defensive game, turnovers will be key.
Prediction: Kosovo Kryptonite 21-20
Outback game of the Week
Stockholm Black Death @ Bow Chicka Brown Cows
This is yet another opportunity to find out what two of the better ranked teams in Oceania are made of. SBD has played 4 very close matchups thus far and only lost one, to $C$; In that particular game they were unable to establish a rushing attack and had far too many missed tackles. BCBC, to this point, has not faced a single challenge, so this really is going to be a game that shows us who they are as a team. They, via the level of competition they’ve faced, have been able to pile up the stats offensively and defensively. However, the real question is, will that continue against SBD? In the previous weeks SBD has successfully created turnovers on defense and done well to limit opposing Rush QB’s of any success. These are areas that, if BCBC is going to succeed and secure a victory, they must find a way to excel and they need to force SBD into their habit of missing tackles.
Prediction: SBD 35-28
