Is it just me or when running the "elusive" tactic, does the return guy try way too hard to zig-zag around defenders when it would appear just running straight would be more effective?

I'm always watching all of my returns and I can't help but think "why" when there's an opportunity for a big return and he sort of slows way down to move like he's being chased by an alligator, zig-zagging, as he's making his way through his blockers.

I'm considering changing him to "slippery" instead, in hopes he'll just run straight more often.

Anyone else see that? Is there a way around to negate the useless movements during returns?

Or like hardcore out of bounds when there's no one seven yards around?

This should be a suggestion. Returners commonly run out of bounds way earlier than they should.

Yes, or that, which also happens commonly.

it seems to helps a little bit having higher toughness but definitely doesnt come close to eliminating the issue.

Toughness really does help. Disagree with me all you'd like!

It's not just for returners. Return plays make the shitty elusive running path logic look shittier, but this is a problem for all elusive runners in general. Obviously they are not even aware of where the first down mark is and just runs out of bounce inches short of it all the time because they are so scared of defenders that are more than 5 yards away.
