So we had a thread in the rookie forum with a whole two breakdowns in it...I'm going here for the final season wrap up, get these teams some exposure as we head into the offseason.
#1 Things You Don't Need Your Doctor to Confirm vs #6 Richmond Raiders
Richmond's had a nice season, and just won the Orion League title. They've been bouncing around the top 5 all year, and will be contenders to come. TYDNYCTC, though, has EASILY been the class of the division, and have shut down some very good teams. Despite their loss to #4 DD 3.0, they are the team to beat in this tier, and I don't think Richmond has it this time.
TYDNYCTC, 14-6
#2 SER NFL Legendz vs #13 Akron Dawgs
There's a significant drop in ELO between the three loss TYDNYCTC and the 5 loss Legendz, but looking at scores, you wouldn't guess it - they have absolutely stomped a lot of their recent competition, including shut outs over #6 Richmond and #4 DD 3.0. A loss in the title game, yes, but a minor stumbling point. They pull it together vs Akron
Lengendz, 35-14
#3 The Simpsons vs #4 DD 3.0 Air Attack
The Simpsons have got to be tired - they've been going for 24 hours straight as I type this, and have another 11 days to go without a break. They had a STATEMENT in their title game - it was soft competition, but they won 105-13. That's a good team. DD, meanwhile, we all know the DNA of, and they're one of the few great teams in rookie ball built around the pass - Simpsons are much more of a ground attack. I think the speed blitzing of the Simpsons is going to be hard to stop, though.
Simpsons, 42 - 35
#5 Wesley Chapel Warriors vs #16 NJ Battalion
A rematch of a tie from a little while ago, WCW is as pure of a rushing team as they get, built around two S* rushing QBs, while the Battalion is another group of passers. The tie, though, was helped by 3 lost fumbles by WCW - two that ended possible scoring drives. I think my team can bounce back this time.
WCW, 21 - 7
#7 Phuket Night Walkers vs #19 Oakland Shanks
The Hookers just won Hydra league, one of the more competitive ones in rookie ball (the battle for Hydra Beta was a very tight one) behind one of the best passing attacks in the tier, and they get a game vs a solid, but definitely not elite team - Oakland didn't even threaten making their league's playoffs.
Hookers, 42 - 3
#8 Boston Generals vs #25 Roman Testudio
Finishing out our trifecta of Hydra contenders is Testudio - they've had some bad losses during the season, but really are more talented than their rank indicates (or so I tell myself, since they beat my team in the playoffs). Boston's no slouches, though, they haven't lost since August 11th, and they just beat #2 Legendz for a title. I'm pretty sure this is one of the more entertaining games of the week.
Testudio, 24-21
#9 Whoville Whos vs #14 Syndicate Mormon Wastelanders
Another nice matchup, between two teams who strive for something resembling balance. Whoville's been up and down lately, taking a tumble out of the top 5, while Mormons have been up and down all season, never really finding that groove for long. They've had some nice wins (shutting out Phuket), but some bad losses, too (like a shutout vs Whoville). I think they turn it around here
Fallout boys, 21-14
#10 Star Trek the Next Generation vs #23 Milwaukee Beers
TNG is our only entry from the short-season leagues in the top 10, and they've had a nice season, though they've wilted vs top talent (loss to DD, split vs Legendz), yet good vs teams in the second tier (a win over Testudio, another recent win over #17). Milwaukee is clearly not top tier, and I don't think they can do much.
TNG, 35-24
