Pocket Awareness? Carry Awareness?

I've set my QB's scrambling frequency to often all season, and have seen maybe 5 scrambles. I have his roll out frequency on almost never (to avoid rolling into defenders). I'd like to see him take off when a defense drops 7 or 8 guys into coverage. His pocket awareness and carry awareness are still very low, obviously the problem. I'm not sure which actually affects his decision making to scramble. Anyone have a clue?

you gotta roll out before you scramble, also pocket awareness.

I'm thinking pass awareness might play a role too, he should scramble if nobody is open also it may help him see the wide open field for him to run.

I originally thought you mean scrambling when there is a real pass rush coming, in that case you need to roll out and have good pocket awareness once he avoids would be tacklers he potentially will take off running.

This may also be true, I've never seen him scramble inside the pocket, even against 3 pass rushers. I'll have to start playing with his rollout frequencies.

I've seen some QB's bolt from inside the pocket, but it's rare.

Just need a decently high carry awareness and the Tuck and Run SA. (Not sure T&R is required, but it's fired every time I've seen a scramble from inside the pocket)

I'll see if I can find some game links.

Sure that tuck and run helps trigger more scrambles? "Activation: Scrambling out of a pass play for a rush attempt" To me it seems more, that you get a bonus to your rushing abilites, when scrambling.

I edited my previous post, I don't think it's required but every time I've seen someone do it, it has fired.

rolling out isn't required to scramble, but it will increase the frequency. The QB will weigh the open field in front of him more favorably than he does with pass rushers in his face in the pocket.

That said, it ain't worth it. You're going to at least double your sacks and hurries by being set to frequent rollouts, and unless you've got HB type carrying grip, you're going to fumble when tackled regularly. And you take the morale/energy damage from the run and tackle, which very well might kill you're ability to pass effectively for the rest of the drive, or worse, spiral you for the rest of the half.

It could be a hidden aspect of that SA

Yeah the easy sacks and morale spiral make it impossible to use rollouts. Though maybe with significant pocket awareness 60+ it may be worth bumping to sometimes.

I've seen it too, like a said, maybe a handful of times with my QB.
