I created 2 CBs last season because I'm stubborn that they may be of good use someday, one of them is built around deflecting(http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/77303), the other around interceptions(http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/74225).

They share very similar builds, with the main difference being that one has 63/9 deflecting/intercepting and the other 12/48. Also, the deflector has On an Island to boost his deflecting skills, the interceptor has Third Down Stopper since I don't play Zone.

Deflector (considering 2 seasons):

99/228 receives allowed (43.42%)
20 passes deflected
1 interception

Interceptor:

107/189 receives allowed (56.61%)
5 passes deflected
0 interceptions

The Deflecting skill says: "The ability to deflect and disrupt incoming passes", emphasis mine. Comparing these two, it is obvious that Deflecting plays a huge role in terms of general defense, but maybe it is also essential for interceptions? Perhaps without Deflecting the defender doesn't know how to position himself in the path of the ball or something?

I wonder if any user who created a player dedicated to interceptions could draw similar conclusions.

I have no idea what changed between this season and last season, but interceptions galore this season. This dot has always had more deflecting than interception skill, read into that what you will. I honestly am starting to grow on quickness and footwork more and more. A CB's ability to break on the ball seems to be key, and I think those two skills need to be worked on the most for interceptions because it's all about getting a clean shot on the ball more than anything else.

The one thing that stands out to me of the couple good INT builds I've seen is they're built for deflections with both OaI and 3rd down stopper. Then they have modest Interception skill around 50ish.

wouldnt footwork and quickness help position for the interception? i helped a guy build two ss's the same ways and in one game they both had picks because they were in better position?

just my opinionated question

Built my guy for INts, cant buy an INT

Then again he has never been on a human owned team. GLB2 sucks.

I tried

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/37218

It worked okay, especially last season. A little slow, but I tried to offset that with First Step. It actually does kind of work, maybe not well enough though. I wish I didn't take so much man awareness and coverage tech so early when everyone else was pumping it.

SAs are your issue. You golded the one that's least useful (only POSSIBLY turns on after the interception), and the two best CB SAs (On an Island and Third down stopper) are both just bronze. The ignoring of deflecting also hurts - having that at 30 and Intercepting at like 55 would have made for a player who should have easily found human work.
