What happens if you own a rookie team and would like to sign most of your current roster ? Think the players will reach Soph. level -will the team be promoted to Soph or stay at Rookie level lets say with a .500 record.
Guess Soph players could not be resigned with rookie level team.

Rookie teams automatically become Sophomore teams. Sophomore teams become Seasoned, etc. Teams move up every season, keeping pace with the players.

There will be an option to do so on the team page later in the season (around playoff time I think)
