Does it take more tackling technique and grip to counteract extreme PT/ST?

He seems to have missed a high amount of tackles the past few seasons...A lot more than my players with all tackle skills in the 20's. Seems more like a setting than a skill.

Can't see the build since site is a pos today but you can miss a lot of elusive tackles without good tech.

And he's been facing Ronin and Legacy on a regular basis...

I find that power tackling gets me sticks but no FF, on my SS he missed 6 tackles last season but was rookie ball, not too much trouble yet (he's at 65 PT 45 ST)

I've actually found that keeping Power Tackling / Strip Technique close can really help with Force Fumbles. I've had players with 70PT/35ST that didn't do hardly anything, and as I brought ST up to the 55-60 range his fumbles really picked up. When this happened a few seasons back I tried to raise ST first to around 60-65 with lower PT and had the same result. I brought PT up to the 55-60 range and they really took off in Forced Fumbles.

DeeVee

I could be wrong on this but i think this differs differently pending the type of HB he is tackling, i thought a player with a higher strip tech has a better chance at causing a fumble on a power back due to the more rolls said tackler gets trying to bring said HB down where as power tackling has a better chance against a speed back as the rolls are limited.

I could be wrong with this but this is what i always took it for.

Adding a few points into diving would cut down on those missed tackles. IMO a lot of missed tackles are the result of the defender getting a hand on the RB and not much else.

So then what you have found is that they are probably even contributors and balancing the numbers allowed you to have more total points than taking one over the other at a higher cost.
