I'm not going to do these every week, so if someone wants to volunteer to do the next one, I'd love to get a rotation of sorts setup.
#1 Richmond Raiders v. #8 Boston Generals
This is going to be an interesting match-up. Similar to the last team that I started, Richmond is a blow-em-up running team. Two S* HBs make them a one-two punch that can knock out most of the pass-blitz Ds in this game. Yards are tougher to come by on the ground than they are in the air, so if Boston can hold Richmond to a couple of short gains, they are going to get in trouble on third down. I don't know what kind of gameplan Boston will throw in, so I wonder whether they will play conservative and try and wear the O down into punting the ball, or whether they will be aggressive to try and really back Richmond up by gettin the TFLs? I'm a huge running team fan, so I want to give this one to the Raiders, but I think the running game is more containable than a passing game, so I'm going to say that the Generals should win this one. First to score will probably decide the game, so my prediction here is that you should watch this game.
#2 TTs Constellation Superstars v. #10 Casino Dogs
TT is one of the most inconsistent agents in this game, which is a good reason why he has never found a high level of success in this game so far. This time around, he is wielding a dominating package of 4 S* WRs and a S* QB. This has yielded to some games being blowouts and other games being a total drop-fest. Anything over a 45% completion % and this is TT's game to lose. Look for Jamz's S* WR to make the difference: when Draco gets hot, the other team gets torched. If TT's inconsistency doesn't kill him, he's probably got a lock on a spot in the top 3 for next week.
#3 Things You Dont Need Your Doctor To Confirm v. #13 Ember City Mastodons
DocCon is a very well balanced team, so they are able to convert out of many different situations. Ember City has only lost to the #1 Richmond, so it is going to be a question of whether DocCon's running game will be the difference, or if they are going to be able to use their S* QB to force the ball in there. Ember City is running a team that is very short on S*s, so the gameplan is going to need to be balanced and hope not to let DocCon get ahead quickly. All that extra money from no S*s will make Chem and Heart be on Ember City's side. DocCon will probably break Ember City, but I don't think we will see it in the first half.
#4 Phuket Nightwalkers v. #7 Straight Cash Homies
GOTW!!! The only game this week that really matters: one of these two teams will fall off the undefeated list. Neither of these teams has expressed any real desire to run the football, so I expect a lot of this game is going to come down to blitzing success. Both have had impressive blitzing so far, so it is probably going to come down to which of them is more able to resist the blitz. Of the two, Straight Cash has had the most trouble keeping their QB standing, so I'm going to say that this is going to be Phuket's game to lose. 1st Quarter will define this game... a morale spiral for either team is probably going to be the difference maker. A win by either of these teams will likely cement their place in the top 5 next week.
#5 Battle Creek Mayhem v. #15 Wesley Chapel Warriors
Wesley is a one-trick pony rushing team. If Battle Creek goes in with a pass-blitz, this game is going to get ugly. If Battle Creek can repeat LogZilla's success, the Warriors will need to hope that their D can contain the dual-style R/P attack from Battle Creek. I hope Battle Creek wins, just because these spamming run teams are a blight on this game.
#6 Long Island Knights v. #16 LogZilla Boys
Aries league Boys had a disappointing showing in their last league game, dropping them from the undefeated ranks. Fortunately for them, playing up the ladder gives them a chance to quickly get back in the top ten. Both of these teams have employed a balanced attack for now. Long Island has had the better defense so far this season, so I'd give it to them. As an Aries Bro, I'd like to see the Zilla playing in the top ten, but I think Peeti and the Knights have this one.
#9 Houston Roughnecks v. #12 The Dam "Windy City" Pantherz
This one is interesting, as it may decide the fate of these two teams in the near future. A loss here could make it tough to play the right ELO to get back up, while a win here could move one of these teams into a position where the wins are going to be really tough to come by. Roughnecks have shown better pedigree, so I'll give them the win, and I think it will be decided pretty early.
