I just tested the reattled mechanic out and the QB holds back running backs even though that option is not checked in tactics. Please link the rattled mechanic to the coach's preference of holding back assignments. Not all players are built for such assignments.

This new mechanic seriously changes a future scat back team I wanted to try out. Also with no skilling in run block awareness running backs are pretty much useless in this assignment anyways, and would be better served running a route and being looked to as a last option pass check. Currently I would say throwing to a RB would be more beneficial to avoid sacks and hurries.

If this was introduced as a way to increase pressure on the QB for balance reasons, wasn't this the wrong way to solve any pass rush issues at level 20+?

And if the coach has none checked, the rattled mechanic (designed as both a buff to defenses, taking a receiver out of the game, and offenses, slowing down sacks) would then be circumvented.

While it should prioritize the checked players, it does need to use he "wrong" ones sometimes.

They should just remove the check boxes actually because they obviously serve no purpose anymore. It should prioritize based on where the pressure is coming from.

Feeling pressure from the left side? Should be a check for the FB in Pro set/Weak I/I form first, BTE in the 2 TE formations, otherwise check goes to HB first in any other formation. Then HB or FB (Strong I, Big I). Then the regular TE. Do the opposite for pressure from the right side. They all run checks so if one check is missed the next guy gets held.

At most hold 2 players in at once. 3 is sort of ridiculous. 2 should be after multiple sacks. Otherwise holding just one of the 3 eligible should be enough.

Run Block awareness has nothing to do with holding a back in. They use the pass block skills just like everyone else. And ldo they are useless without those skills. That is the trade off. You avoid blocking skills on your HB/FB/TE they will be useless blocking in such a way. As far as throwing to backs to avoid hurries/sacks...meh, for the most part they are just as useless in route as the FB. Not a reliable target option.

Yeah. Clearly that was a transposed typo on my part. Of course pass block aware.

I'm surprised you think halfbacks are useless. I've had some of my biggest first downs and break out plays throwing to an elusive back in pro who is able to make some impressive plays this season. That's probably why I don't like this change. It is silly if it is a buff to pass defense wrapped in the guise of a buff to pass protection. ..heh.

Most of their catches are dead weight in comparison to WR/TE. Sure it is nice when you get a big one, but they sure are few and far to come by.

I thought the rattled mechanic was kind of a panic button for the QB. He is afraid to take more hits and just holds back blockers ignoring the gameplan...

I'd like to see something build related give the QB a chance to avoid "overholding" blockers if thus mechanic is going to stay.

I have always thought, given the name 'rattled' the intent was a buff to the defense and was never a plan to buff the offense

I was going to make a new suggestion, but the title here fits so...

I say turn the rattled mechanic into an SA:
"Quick Release" (base it off Pocket Awareness, opponent blitzing 5/6+ defenders, lasts entire play)

Bronze: +5 Awareness, -2 Technique, -2 Consistency (30%)
Silver: +10 Awareness, -4 Technique, -4 Consistency (60%)
Gold: +15 Awareness, -6 Technique, -6 Consistency (90%)

Just a thought... (numbers are just examples)

It is still difficult to fully measure imo.

Some see it as a major offensive buff (an auto adjust to reduce sacks and pressure as the game goes)

Some see it as a defensive buff (if we blitz enough - we can get the TE taken off of his route!)

Why not treat "rattled" like an SA that every QB has - in the sense that a "!" pops over the QB's head at the start of a play when it is affecting him -- perhaps you even have 3 levels:

The biggest problem with Rattle is that QBs are holding the ball forever looking for a pass target. It should be the opposite. QBs should throw sooner resulting in more incompletions and even more interceptions.

But the dumbest thing is seeing 2-3 receivers held in and then watch your QB get sacked on tick 72. That is just straight out stupid.
