#1 The Boogie Men (154) vs #17 Syndicate Legion (181)

Both teams won their opening game but not by convincing margins. TBM kept it on the ground, Syndicate mainly took to the air. Their defences were remarkably similar, giving up almost equal amounts of yards on the ground and in the air. Based on their respective ladder rankings I will go for TBM.

#2 Doinitin Djibouti 2.0 (157) vs #3 Doge All Go (158)

Both teams won their opening games, DD having a close win and DAG a more comfortable one. DAG is a passing team while DD play a more balanced game. DD are generally a better defensive team and gave up a lot less yards than DAG. DD generally knows how to beat a passing team, so I am giving them the nod here.

#4 Dublin Wolfhounds (166) vs #17 Denver Nightmares (181)

Both teams won their opening game and both kept their opponents from scoring. Both are passing teams with Dublin putting up more yards and getting more TDs. Their defences are similar with Denver having a slight advantage. In a shoot-out I predict Dublin will come out ahead.

#5 Alaskan Assassins (167) vs #13 Vandelay Industries (176)

Both teams won their opening games and also kept their opponents scoreless. They are currently the #1 and #2 passing teams with Alaskan having a significant edge. Alaskan also have a much tighter defence. In another passing shoot-out, I think Alaskan will prevail.

#6 Run GLB (168) vs #7 Creek Valley Beast (169)

Both of these teams lost their opening games with identical 14-17 scores. Both are passing teams with a little bit of running. CVB have the better passing and Run GLB the better running. (Maybe Run GLB needs to be renamed to “Used to Always Run GLB”). CVB gave up less yards than Run GLB (CVB actually had more yards in their opening day loss). Since Run GLB moved towards a passing team they have dropped down the rankings and I predict CVB will bounce back from their loss and win here.

#8 C O N V I C T E D (170) vs #19 Midgar Avalanche (185)

Both teams won their opening games, Convicted by a much bigger margin. Midgar are a 100% running team while Convicted are more balanced and have the #1 offence. Midgar have a much tighter defence but both gave up 14 points. Convicted were top of the rookie rankings until a late season collapse dropped them down. Based on their first week they may be ready to bounce back and I think they will win this one.

#9 Ridiculous Poon Getters (171) vs #20 Torchwood Institute (186)

RPG won their first game and Torchwood lost. RPG kept their opponents scoreless while Torchwood was kept scoreless. RPG is a strong rushing team while Torchwood is mainly a passing team. RPG has the much better defence. Based on these factors I think RPG will prove too strong and win.

#9 I've Never Had Sex (171) vs # 16 Brasil Devilz (179)

The virgins won and Brasil lost in week 1. The virgins kept it on the ground and put up huge numbers while Brasil came out on the wrong side of a shoot-out. The virgins defence was much stronger and are the #2 overall. Brasil have the #2 rush defence but that may be more due to playing a passing team than showing their ability to stop the run, which will be strongly tested this week. The virgins pass defence will be tested here. I think the Virgins will have the game plan required here and win.

Thanks cirop good writeup! I'm really looking forward to a ladder season where hopefully we get to play a wide selection of sophomore teams instead of alternating run glb and a journeyman team just about every other week. Gl everyone

Devilz held us scoreless in our last scrimmage. First ladder game of the year should be a good one.

I'm glad we got you guys in the first ladder game, can't wait to see how we stack up to the best team in Soph tier. Try to take it easy on my Legion! We are still working out the kinks.

I don't believe that's possible since that only happened because I developed the offense and defense of Devilz, but I left the team with my 10 players behind. It was a promising team, but we lost 15 dots in the offseason and I couldn't bear to stalk for folks.

GG Legion. Thought it was going to be a close one. I mean, it kind of was in the first half and then things started to go our way..
