Season 5 Preview

So to many Osprey is the pinnacle league of talent, to some we have too much parity to become a premier league in GLB2. I say meh to all of it, this is the most entertaining league in the game imo since every game has a chance of loss or win.

Something I have learned from the first 4 seasons in Osprey is to not and try to predict how a team will perform or even records as there will be no way you will get it right. So rather than give a pure prediction I figured I will give a history lesson/recap of this league up to this point with a prediction of final results.

===---=== ALPHA DIVISION ===---===

Tampa Piranhas - Ladder Rank (5) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

Tampa took the league by storm in Season 1 with securing the wildcard spot and then going on and winning the league. Season 2 they did extremely well and took down the redhot Alpine team in the championship team. Season 3 Tampa didn't quite start out the way you would expect them to, but they found their strides late in the season and took down Ministry of Dotball, another Beta team in the championship. Season 4 was much the same of Season 3 except the slump was more later in the season but they found their composure and won yet again against another Beta team Detroit Foreclosures giving them their 4th straight title in Osprey. Tampa are the clear-cut favourites to win again despite a few player replacements. Until someone knocks them down, they will have the bulls eye on their backs. I would predict they will win Alpha again.

DeepRoute Allstars - Ladder Rank (28) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

In Season 1 DeepRoute won the division and were knocked out in the first round. Each season after they just haven't been able to get back to the playoffs despite remaining a contender for the wildcard spot, but falling short each season! It has to be frustrating for them to be so close each time and not catching the breaks to clinch it. They have the talent and clearly have the chances, but in Osprey, you can't just be good, you have to be lucky! This season I don't know if they will be as successful given the fact that they don't have much in the artillery of pass defense. Sitting with only 4 LB and 4 CB they are going to have to rely on some luck to stop the aerial teams in the league. This is what I believe will be their weakness that keeps them out of the playoffs this season.

Sacramento B-Squad - Ladder Rank (55) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

Sacramento hasn't quite been what they expect to be in Osprey. It is quite possible that in another league they would have more success but given their circumstances they are in it for the long haul! In Season 1 the B-Squad had a sub .500 season, and that was followed by a completely dismal Season 2 as one of the worst in Osprey. Season 3 turned that around as they were in contention for a wildcard spot, but in Season 4 they flared downward again to a dismal ending. They have minimal roster movements this season in positions that shouldn't hurt them badly. I predict this season they will end up about middle of the pack again with some glimmer of playoff hope but will fall short.

Helmand Provincial Pathan Pansies - Ladder Rank (21) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

Helmand had a pretty good season in Season 1 giving Tampa a run for their money for the wildcard spot, but fell a bit short. Season 2 they just couldn't quite get things together for a playoff run and that is when they brought in a new offensive coordinator which changed their type of play but didn't make them more successful. In a drastic move to improve they brought in all new players and new staff for Season 4 to which they were on the right track, but chemistry kept them down. They had huge hopes for this season but with a major glitch in the contracts department, no contracts were signed and they will need to start again for Season 5 with new chemistry. Unless the staff can right the mishandling here, they are in for a rough ride!

===---=== BETA DIVISION ===---===

Alpine - Ladder Rank (22) || 3 Seasons in Osprey

Alpine were transferred to Osprey in Season 2 and took it over by storm. They dominated and won the Beta division to make it to the title game and then lost. In Season 3 things just didn't go right for them and they missed the playoffs. They turned it around for Season 4 by starting off strong but lost the clinch of the division and then lost in the first round to Tampa who went on to win it all. Beta is the hardest division to predict simply do to the history of a rotating winner. I expect to have Alpine either in the running for division lead or wildcard.

Detroit Foreclosures - Ladder Rank (18) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

Detroit missed on the playoffs in Season 1 in the last game of the season against Minstry of Dotball. Following that loss they had a good seasons clinching the wildcard with a win against Minsitry of Dotball but lost to their Division rivals Alpine in the first round. Season 3 they blew away the competition and clinched the #1 seed overall but lost in the first round to Ministry of Dotball. Season 4 Detroit positioned themselves strongly, despite changing ownership, by clinching the division yet again and made it to the championship game but lost to the infamous Tampa Piranhas. Detroit has only made one roster change and look to poise themselves as one of the favourites to make the playoffs again.

Ministry of Dotball - Ladder Rank (27) || 4 Seasons in Osprey

Ministry started Osprey with high success by clinching the #1 seed but lost in the first round to the eventual league champion Tampa Piranhas. Season 2 they missed the playoffs against their rival Detroit in the last game of the season. Season 3 the same occurred but they beat the #1 seed to advance to the finals and lost again to Tampa. Season 4 Ministry didn't have what it takes and missed the playoffs again. This season with no roster changes they are trying to set themselves up for a run. With some luck they will have a shot at the division, but probably more setting up for a run at the wildcard.

Rocky Mountain Reapers - Ladder Rank (14) || 1 Season in Osprey

In the Reapers first season they got the strong taste of what Osprey is all about in losing a few of the first games and that put them so far behind the 8 ball that they couldn't quite recover for the playoffs. This season just like the other 3 teams in Beta will come down to the wire.

===---=== GAMMA DIVISION ===---===

Dookie Island - Ladder Rank (34) || 1 Season in Osprey

Dookie came in to Osprey without a lol since well, and Admin runs the team, but they still held their own by winning the division and losing to the Detroit Foreclosures. This season they have some stiff competition and will require some strong work to seal the deal again. I predict them to miss the divisional race lead and not able to clinch wildcard, but it will come down to a late game to decide it.

Osprey Orphans - Ladder Rank (100) || 1 Season in Osprey

The Orphans well are just a compilation of a team that if players need a home they jump on. Another Admin stepped up and grabbed this team so that Osprey can just be well, Osprey. We didn't want a scrub CPU team around so we made it a challenge, and they proved last season they could actually get a win out of it. This season I don't see any chance to get into the playoffs but they can surprise a few teams.

American Hustlers - Ladder Rank (15) || First Season in Osprey

The Hustlers don't have any Osprey history but they have made the playoffs 2 times in a previous league but never made it out of round 1. I predict them to challenge Dookie for the division and quite possibly the wildcard spot.

Nashville Ninjas - Ladder Rank (57) || First Season in Osprey

The Ninjas also do not have any experience in Osprey but furthermore they do not have any experience in post season play. This does not bode well for them and I would expect them to miss the playoffs.

Shit ton of work, but with a bunch of new teams wouldn't be bad to see the history of the league.

All done now. Hard to do the new teams, they will need to write up their own history and I tried to limit strictly to only Osprey experience.
