My WR is on a CPU team and will likely never play for a human team again. There are hundreds of WR FAs at this age level that are in the same boat.

So I just wanted to buy a team and sign 43 of the hundreds of doomed FAs. No dice! I could only buy a rookie team in which I can't get a single player to join. This is some backwards ass lame shit.

Is there some kind of plan for all those FAs? Does WG just expect all those players to retire and actually come back after the lameness? Maybe they don't care or are just to lazy to fix these problems. I know the guys that were around since testing will tell me there is no problem and they have no trouble finding teams or players. I am not one of the good 'ol boys and am just an average user. Should I just walk away now? This was the game that was suppose to be newb friendly.

Couple things that may help your WR find a team:

1) Catch up option to get him to Pro Level. Right now hes I believe 3 games back from being a Pro and it is tough to recruit a "Journeyman" WR that can only play in Pro.

2) Hone your build into one or two concepts rather than a bunch of things. You have 5 different SA's and 3 of them are at level 1. Most people at the pro level at looking for at least one SA to be gold level or a well thought out plan of 2 leveled SA's.

As per how it is set up. It is going to be weird like this until the entire set of tiers is set up. Teams just keep resetting right now because the meta game changes or their ideas for a team isn't fleshing out. Having a bunch of teams human owned with a couple human players doesn't sound that interesting either. It will get better after a couple seasons of Vet has passed and instead of resetting teams start recruiting players to keep their teams up. Ya that probably isn't the answer you wanted but it is what it is right now. Neither way is perfect, but at least the competition keeps up this way.

It actually is a helpful answer but doesn't help a whole lot.

I was originally building a fast slot receiver. The team I landed on the team owner was building a slot guy so I had to change it. I was also confused by the way SAs worked. I get conflicting advice every time I asked on this build.

So it appears the team I waited weeks for that cost me 500 FP is going to be useless at least for the next 3-4 seasons.

That build isn't actually that bad despite some of the SA choices. I would probably recruit him if my only teams at the Pro ranks weren't SF and Ruins. Just are too full on WR's right now.

There are also 4 CPU teams in the Pro leagues. Maybe try contacting support to possibly take over ownership? Piranha Alpha division could for sure use a human owned team between those 2 CPU teams in their division. That is going to be sad for the Seahawks.

I'd retire you WR and make a new player for your rookie team. Prolly a HB or QB since it's your free player which is a really good use of the free player since they also get free boosts.

Then get on the teams looking for players forum and advertise your team followed by the players looking for teams and start grabbing rookies for your team.

Don't get locked in on the idea of needing to keep your WR so much that you miss out on the other opportunities you might have.

Also pretty good advice mostly because it is your free player. Would get your guy on your own team and allow you to develop him the way you want him to.

I have been on both of those forums. Teams looking for players forum is not sorted by age or anything and I was on the second page back within hours with zero responses. Players looking for teams obviously are not looking for my team, every single one was a rejection. Maybe I will do as bhall suggested and try to get a pro team through support. I'm not sure if my GLB2 skill level is up to snuff enough for that though.

GLB2 was advertised as newb friendly yet it seems you would need a near perfect build to play on a human team. There are a ton of very good looking level 20 FA WRs rusting away on CPU teams.

You have only been advertising your team on the Teams looking for players for a couple hours and it is 2am based on where I am from. So no need to feel rejected at this point.

+1

Recruiting is no different here than in GLB1, OSIRIS. Despite the massive surfeit of FAs, it's time consuming and dispiriting. I think you need to PM agents, talk about your plans for the team and how their toon will fit into your scheme, etc and even then, people rarely respond with even a 'thanks, but no thanks'. I reckon I get a hit rate of about 1 in 5. That's a lot of PMs to build roster.

I think bhall's suggestion about contacting support to take over a CPU team is a good 'un.

Heck there's times I don't even get responses from people that post directly in my looking for players advertisement posts

People are pretty easily dismissing his point about finding teams but it really does only get worse the lower you go on the totem pole.

The first season of GLB was mostly ragtag teams of random agents so we saw a lot of turnover from season to season as people adjusted to the meta.

The second season saw the first real network teams (Zorp, Air Raid, etc.) designed to do *something* that feature much less turnover. Why do you think Journeyman is down to 4 leagues? A majority of these teams adapted to using the same players and the ones that didn't got frustrated and reset to do just that.

As seasons pass and new rookie teams are formed it becomes less and less likely somebody is buying a team and just recruiting people at random. If you look at the new rookie teams forming this season 90% of them have some sort of plan and are expecting boosts and the same core group for the remainder of their careers.

There really isn't a solution to this problem though other than "join a team in rookie and stay in it" or "play CPU leagues until professional". The former not always being possible and the latter being a lot of the same 'un-fun' as playing GLB1 having started in Season 2.

Maybe we need to be giving free teams as a reward to people who are active or otherwise show they have an interest in the game (achievements? SS points? GM accomplishments?) just to inject some new life into some of the older but midlevel tiers that are bloated with pre-made teams.

I've offered to teach people how to coordinate before; Learn a skill and use it to get into networks.

Fwiw, even with air raid we've typically averaged 4 players or so a season in turnover. We'll have more unique agents this season than any before most likely.

The real problem of GLB1 though is that the mid levels are entirely no fun to play whatsoever. All the builds are so radically different in path's. The only real radical difference here is whether you went early bloomer or not. Which as people have showed isn't really a crazy difference maker.

I think this might be a fun season from the games I have played thus far. Nothing about the sim looks stupidly broken that I have seen and games look to be interesting both for passing and running. Time will tell though.

Ya it sucks that journey man is down to 4 leagues but they are 2 seasons from forming right in with current Pro anyways. It is going to take a few seasons of Vet to get things to where people look and see the top level and want to get there. Instead of constantly resetting they will recruit, adapt, and push their way through. Also making it easier is that Sophmore and Seasoned are the only real gap between Rookie and Vet. Journeyman up has people honed in on most of their best skills and starting to fill in where needed.
