How low do I have to get my SP to sign? Was hoping to get some build advice from the coordinators before using them.

It may be different for rookie?
I got down to1800 and signed. Stupid feature. Why does it exist?

To prevent people from hoarding SP.

There is no benefit to hoarding SP, so why prevent it?
If someone does not know what they want to spend it on, why force them to?

If you just made the QB, he would have 1,000 SP, which would be less than 4,000, which would not contradict the post you quoted.
Read better.

Because it doesn't benefit the game at all to have people sitting on all their skill points waiting for the meta game.

I have mixed feelings on the subject.
I get the arguments for making people spend their SP's and whatnot.
But on the other hand as a coach, I'd really prefer they spent them to fit my plans for them than just randomly.
And from an agent's perspective, it's a lot easier to get signed to a team when you're sitting on those points specifically for the above reason.

btw you can say this, but in reality knowing WG,
it so that re-specs are actually worth something. Gotta get that $ for respecs.

It really isn't that hard to say in your PLFT ad that you are sitting on SP's that can be spent however the coach wants. A lot of people actually do that.
As far as fitting your plans it is very likely that player is already on your team and just resigning so they should already be fit into your plans.
