Games of the week: (Probably should just post the same thing I posted last week)

#2 Yorick vs #3 Victorious Secret @ 5pm - 5 meeting IN A ROW - 6th on the season. Yorick leads the series 3-2. These games have seemed like true chess matches...if a chess match consisted of somebody getting beaten over the head with a 2x4 within the first 2 minutes of the game and spending the next 46 minutes simply trying to regain consciousness... The last 2 games have been blow outs (1 each way). I expect this one to be a little closer.

Prediction: It is the Secrets turn to win - 24-21

#4 D'Haran vs #5 Nebraska - 2pm - 7th meeting this season (garbage!) D'H has won the last two - and if I recall - Viper isn't able to spend a lot of time online during the weekend. Does that mean he'll toss together a winning strategy? In spite of D'H winning the last two -- I think Nebraska bounces back.

Prediction: Nebraska 17-14

The others:
#119 Minnesota Stunners vs #126 Calgary Roughnecks - late - The Stunners avoid a sophomore ladder match up for the 16th ladder game in a row. Wow. Unfortunately - after going 6-1 in the first 7....they've gone 2-5-1 in their last 8. Not good as the losses can be blamed on a variety of reasons: skill point differential; out coached; bad coaching decisions by me; etc. Calgary is a single agent seasoned team with a current 14-10-1 record (how are they so low in the ladder?). Another uphill climb for the stunners who are hoping for some RNG magic in this one.

Prediction: Calgary wins 14-3

#6 Tusken Raiders vs #8 Compton Con Men -8am - looks like these teams have never met! (?) Both teams riding ladder win streaks into this one (4 & 3) should make for a great game! One team seems to have a great passing attack and an average defense. Other team seems to have a great passing attack and a great defense. Probably no reason to even play this game...

Prediction: Compton wins 41-24

#7 Rhode Island vs #12 EEA @ 3pm - another battle of two very good passing offenses. Both teams playing well this season...

Prediction: Rhode Island wins 27-21

#9 Rare Breed Rookies vs #14 Drinkin Hellraisers -1pm - Rare Breed won the first meeting between these two. Rare breed has won 4 or their last 5 ladder matches. Do I recall that Drinkin is coming off some kind of coaching error where a wrong playbook was used? Confidence rattled.

Rare Breed wins: 35-14

#10 Baby Banger vs #17 Lincoln City - Do you guys remember last season when Baby Banger almost shut out every single league game they played....and then lost the championship? From one of the most self promoted teams (far from the biggest self promoter....) to a team that disappeared into the woodwork and seems to say "this game sucks". Then there is Lincoln - who decided to focus on the passing game this season & recruited a superstar qb & then proceeded to lose more games this year than they did last year.

Prediction: Banger wins 17-14

Any of these top teams in danger of missing the playoffs in their league? I don't feel like looking

Banger most likely won't make it, they started off too slow.

I don't think I can begin to describe how tired I am of having to playing VS, and I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

And it's not really a chess match. We're going to run. They're going to pass. I have to guess what kind of defense they're going to run to determine how I should balance between inside and outside. They just have to avoid bad RNG on their early passing game.

It's more of a guessing game.

I want to run inside more than I have been because it's better at eating the clock which is the only way to really stop a passing team, but there is the huge, huge risk that they'll call MO spam. On the other hand, if they call MO spam and I call a bunch of HB Sweeps, they're ded. So, we're both guessing here.

On defense, frak if I know what to do. So far I've tried Cover 2 man, zone, heavy blitzing, a simple defense that got caught and turned into single play all game long when they went all 4 WR's the first time, a different set of heavy blitzing, and sacrificing genetically enhanced, heavily armored space marines to the Blood God. No dice on any of it. If my offense holds the ball, we do great on defense. Otherwise, not so great.

Did you watch your last game? Your Cover 2 and Man Base pretty much shut them down, take out that shitty Over Smoke play and DAG and you have your defense.

Heh. Over Smoke only showed up in 3 minute defense because I forgot to change the tactics on the second page when I copied it from my usual defense tactics. I fixed that as soon as I saw it because that playbook-tactics isn't supposed to be blitzing, especially not when I want to make the other team eat clock.

Fair enough, even though you gave up 400+ yards you held them to a FG, Punt, or Turnover on Downs 70% of the time. Pretty good for GLB2.

Baby BANGAR will miss the playoffs, they're not in contention, and one of D'hara, Rhode Island, and Alpine could miss. All the same league - Rhode Island and D'hara are tied at the top of their division, playing next league game for the division crown. Meanwhile in Alpha, Alpine is playing #33 Texas A&M. If Texas wins and has the tiebreak (head to head is split, too lazy to find out points right now), then Alpine, Texas, and (D'hara/RIF loser) all have the same record. If Texas has their division, Alpine has the tiebreaker over RIF, but D'hara has the tiebreaker vs Alpine. If Alpine wins or has the division tiebreaker, all three make it.

D'Hara has the tiebreaker over Texas and Alpine by a large margin, I think RI does as well. I think barring a blowout by D'Hara or RI both teams are in and then it just comes down to Alpine and Texas. I think Texas has the tiebreaker over Alpine since they would be tied h2h.

It's a win or go home for Alpine and Texas (I THINK) and just about seeding for D'Hara and RI. D'Hara gets the #1 seed if we win, a few different scenario's can happen with seeding if RI wins.

Tampa are rolling now; they have a bunch of superstars on offense that are only now getting close to 100 chem. Had a tough start to the season with a short roster to accomodate S*s and none of them having chem.

You forgot the scenario where I take over defense for this game because gruff is away

Wow - what a game Yorick vs Victorious...victorious comes out with their best Yorick impression on offense and moves the ball pretty well from the spread....and the goal line off tackle...HB sweep...off tackle weak...eats up LOTS of clock -- makes some KEY throws to keep drives alive...and wins the game with a somewhat shocking (to me) game plan.
