If i retire my Super Star player before season ends will my current players count towards the next S*? Also what is the cutoff to build players to count towards the next S*

I'd assume as long as the S* is retired when you "earn" the points for your other players at the end of the season, then you will get those points.

I meant day 24*.
No you have to have them until they reach the next tier, which would mean you'd have to keep them and have them on a team until day 41.
If you're trying to get another superstar in place of a superstar you have now you need to retire that superstar before your other players reach that tier. So probably day 40.
