We are winning games but our ladder rank drops?
We started the season 55, went like a high of 39, and after the latest win we dropped from 40 to 42.

It's only sophomore wtf, teams should be flying up and down the ladder.

I wish they would just put the ELO in parenthesis next to the ladder rankings....would make things a lot simpler...and show the true gaps.

im just confused because when we win game our rank doesn't go up,
when we lose games it stays the same, or goes down like 5.
And recently even when we win, it still goes down???

I remember when AGD2D was in soph losing 2 games in a row could drop you 10+ ladder ranks.

Kinda BS how we have won 7 games and are in virtually the same spot as we started the season. The ELO gap between 40/50s and the 30s can not be that high at all.

i think the issue is the strength of opponents, yes last game was a win but against a lower team

you can't assume everyone else don't gain or lose ELO points

and from looking at opponents some of the wins are against ranked 80 teams, which probally gives like 0-1 ELO when you ranked that high

in short ELO is probally a lot more complicated then anyone but bort knows.

and regarding TxSteve's comment yea showing ELO would be nice

If this system is anything like a true ladder system the following would be true:

If you're ranked higher and are "challenged" by a lower rank and you...
win - you keep your rank
lose - the winning team takes your spot in the ladder and you move down below them

If higher ranked teams lose to teams that "challenged" them, then your rank will subsequently fall 1 for each team that lost above you.

Is this how the GLB ladder system works? I have no idea. But this is an example of a typical ladder system.

ELO is not very complicated
but it's really, really hard to see what's going on when you can't see the ratings. Heck I'd love it if the box scores included the pre-game ratings of the teams involved so you could review them for historical purposes, and then it would be simple to show what's going on with the rankings.

Rankings are just an ordering, they don't show at all what is going on with the team ratings.

Yea, I have played other games with ranking systems where I can see valid arguments for hiding the actual ELO rating, but they don't apply to this game at all. I can't think of a negative consequence to letting us see the ratings.Originally posted by NiborRis
