Second go around and doing it a bit later so more people will see it and we can have some activity in this thread. I hope to do better than my 2-5 record last week and to hit 1-2 more point spreads. Some interesting match ups, some new, some old and one that will be real ugly. Lets get started shall we?
#1 The Salty Runback vs #2 Harrisonburg Bulldogs http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/398/373
Season 4 HtH record: 1-0 Harrisonburg
Career record: 5-2 Salty
Poor Tditty seems to be stuck playing these guys most weeks and it hasn't been in the Bulldogs favor either, though they did take one from Salty earlier this season. The real question lies in if he can replicate that magic again because so far their career record against Salty is 2-5. On paper this should be in the Bulldogs favor as the have a very talented defense and a S* Qb to run a very good offense while Salty has its own juggernaut defense, their offense runs hot and cold and it costs them games. Obviously the xfactors are Droppin Bombs for Harrison and the offense for Salty. Droppin needs to find ways to score against this defense and Salty needs to find some help from their offense this game because the defense will not be able to win this match up on their own.
I know I shouldn't pick against Salty but I dislike how their offense is inconsistent at times: 17-10 Harrisonburg
#3 Atlantic City Hookers vs #4 Hawaii Bulls http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/327/161
Season 4 record 1-0 Bulls
Career record 1-1 Tied
A newer Match up in the top ten this week, these two team have only played each other twice and the only noticeable thing is Hookers has scored 26 both times losing 26-52 and winning 26-14. We both know what these teams will do. Hookers are going to pass it and the Bulls are going to run it. I believe that this match up will once again come down to if the hookers can stay on the right side of 26 points instead of the wrong side. Obvious xfactors will be Cobb for Hookers and Storm for the Bulls. These two are the heart and souls of their teams offenses and they will need to have big games to beat the other. This ones a coin flip.
Hookers unfortunately cant stay on the right side of 26 despite cobb having a good day and storm has a big day while jones struggles a bit: 35-26 Bulls
#5 Air Raid vs #6 Louisiana Screaming Pelicans http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/492/407
Season 4 record 0-0
Career record 3-1 Pelicans
This match up is a shout out to a growing rivalry between these two back in season 3 where the annoying birds took 2 of 3 from Air Raid. Another battle of two opposites, Air Raid being full pass and Pelicans being run heavy. Surprisingly Air Raid has a good run defense but they are getting destroyed by the pass this season, Pelicans may want to consider attacking that weak passing defense considering they have a very capable Qb in Cajun Cannon. The xfactor for this game will be Brown for Air Raid again as when he hasn't completed at least 60% of his passes against the Pelicans they have lost. For the Pelicans its Cajun Cannon, the one game they lost was the only game where he failed to complete 50% of his passes. Both Qbs need to find targets today if either wants a shot at winning.
Cannon has a good day and sends Air Raid back down to go face Andes for a fourth time: 28-24 Pelicans
#7 Lost Lounge vs # 9 Andes Chinchillas http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/482/377
Season 4 record 0-0
Career record 1-0 Lost
Another newer match up. These teams have only played each other once and Lost Lounge won it pretty easily 35-17 thanks to both of Andes coordinators forgetting to change out the scout playbooks for real playbooks. But since then these two teams have both changed. Lost pick up the very talented Yukiko from zorp and Andes has shifted from a run heavy team into a more balanced one. It will be interesting since neither team has faced each other with these changes yet. However, Andes does have a lot of experience vs S* Qbs and pass heavy offenses thanks to Playing Air Raid 3 consecutive times before this. Xfactors will be Yukiko for Lost as she needs to score in order to beat a offense like Andes. This game Andes gets two xfactors the first being Jim Plunkett and the second being the defense. With this new balanced attack of Andes Jim has been called upon to shoulder more and transform from a game manager to a play maker when Jim plays well it allows the deadly duo Bo and Clem to run wild on teams. The defense for Andes needs to find a way to stop Yukiko to stop this offense. Though lost is only 1-3 in ladders this season.
I pick my own team cause Im biased and have a legit shot at winning this one thanks to Air Raid: 34-26 Andes
#8 (64) Darkside Vase Breakers vs # 57 (65) Santiago Benitos
Ouch who did Vase Breakers piss off to get this game vs a journeyman team. This will probably get ugly and I will spare a long write up for this
#10 Erie Swarm vs 11# Sandy Cheeks http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/374/435
Season 4 record 0-0
Career 0-0
Heres a team and matchup I haven't seen yet. I'll be honest I have never heard of Sandy Cheeks before, never seen them play either till I scouted for this write up. Erie is been a bubble top 10 team for a while. They run a balanced offense that can be a bit lack luster but they have a solid defense. Sandy is a team I'm here about for the first time and it looks like they are a pass first team. The problem is Sandy seems to struggle in the big ladder games. Erie is a great chance to show they can win a big game. The xfactor for these two are no actually players but concepts. Erie just needs to play good football alround as they can struggle a bit and for Sandy they need to adjust to the big stage if they want to ever crack the top 10
Erie finds its grove for a solid win: 27-14 Erie
