I have spent a good deal of time setting up different depth charts exactly how I want them, but when the DC is put into action it keeps putting players at positions that make no sense, but it is following a pattern.
1. It likes to put one of my linebackers in at RDE despite him not being on any depth chart for DE in general or any formation. It's always the same linebacker, and I've never seen him put in at LDE. This will happen when 2 or 3 out of my 3 DEs have low conditioning, but they don't always have low conditioning. Often times the linebacker in question has lower conditioning at the end of the previous play than the DEs that should be in their rightful position, but he is subbed in anyway.
2. It likes to switch my safeties around, resulting in my SS playing FS and one of my FSs playing SS. My safety depth chart is as follows:
for FS - Sometimes: 1. FS #1, 2. FS #2
for SS - Infrequent: 1. SS, 2. FS #2
I can't understand how the sim is putting my SS at FS, especially when all safeties are at 60+ conditioning at the end of previous play. I started off the season with my SS being the only player on the SS Depth Chart but it kept subbing him out anyway so I changed it to this. It seems like its a little better but still produces funky results. There should be no situation where my SS is at FS outside of 4-4 formation, but I find him at FS in all different formations (3-2-6, 4-3, 3-3-5, etc.).
For most positions the depth chart works perfectly, i.e. if I only have 1 person listed at a position it just plays that guy all day long no matter how tired he gets. It won't seem to do that for my S* SS, however. I just want that to be the case for all positions.
Is there something I am missing that will make me facepalm and completely fix my problem? This is my hope. If not I will continue to tweak until I get the results I am looking for.
