Howdy yall, I have no work and I'm just bored....
SOO... I've decided to do a top 10 ranking of what are (IMO) the best 10 HBs in GLB2.
Sry if you think your HB is good, but he is not in this ranking.
Sry if you think your HB is good, but he is not currently a Journeyman, imo if you aren't playing at the top level of the game against top defenses, then idc.
HBs were based off this criteria (In no particular order):
1. Theoretical ability to produce similar stats elsewhere (Superstar ability)
2. YPC
3. Big Play ability
4. Consistency
5. Ability to put the team on his back. (Also includes if you are better than your HB teammates)
Ok We're gonna start off this list that I expect to be highly controversial with the BEST HB IN GLB2.
Drum roll pl0x....
1# Too Much Power http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/9496 - Parab00n - Doinitin Djibouti
Why is he ranked so highly? Take a look at these numbers.... 256 yards 21.3 ypc against the 9th ladder rank Providence radicals. 122 yards with 13.6 ypc against the 4th ranked New Jersey Generals. 188.5 yards and 11.1 ypc against the 3rd ranked Sunday Funday... Now if you see the trend, this RB doesn't care what the opposition is, he runs. Also, having only 7 fumbles in 465 carries (Thats a 1.5% fumble to carry ratio) This guy is basically a godsend to any team. He can extend plays, He can make something out of nothing, and he RARELY turns the ball over. For all these reasons, Too Much Power of DD is ranked #1 for the best HB in GLB.
#2 Totoro http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/7510 - Digital Daggers - Portland Ronin
Beast of a HB. Great playmaker and consistent performer. It's not very often you see a bad game from this guy. 2 time champ, should be 3 time but DD did the lol by not giving this guy the ball in the championship game imo. A mix between slippery and a grinder, gives me the reggie bush type of feeling. Fantastic cutting up the middle of the field on dives. Class HB. #2
#3 Tre Mason http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/6604 - fswa - A Good Day to Die
No bias I swear. But to me this guy is that good. This guy truly darn near always makes something out of nothing. Unlike his beast 12 duo Carnell, he can go inside and outside for great success. Rarely does this guy leave me wanting more. 7.7 avg. on the season should speak for itself. This guy really makes OCing AGD2D easy, since I've just been feeding him the ball, he has put the team on his back and has lead them out of the 40s and soon back into the top 20.
#4 Speedy Fly Gamble http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/5830 - InRomoWeTrust - Queen City Brewmasters
Now, this RB also happens to be leading the HOF, which isn't all that impressive since basically the more carries you get, the higher your HOF rank. The main reason why I picked this HB is because of his big play ability, and his consistent performances. Of course it is easy to shine when you are system built for the success of YOU and ONLY you. But I find that Speedy Fly Gamble gets the job done very well, and he is one of the key components of Queen City's 6th place ladder position.
#5 Garrett Dooley http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/17141 - Gart888 - Doinitin Djibouti
3 words... Big. Play. Ability. I think this guy might be the most electrifying HB in glb right now. A real threat to take it to the house every time he gets a carry. The type of guy that is perfect for a 3 RB system. Give him the ball, let him make the defense look silly, get him some rest, and send him back in there to do it all over again. 55 TDs is no freaking joke people. This guy is sensational. This guy was a coin toss away, from being placed 4th or even 3rd.
#6 Matty Lewk http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/9099 - Lewk57 - Legacy
Yep... Legacy has fostered a beast. One that I believe they should give the ball more often. This guy is just plain good man. He adds real consistency to the legacy offensive gameplan, with constantly great performances game in and game out. A very reliable back with promising qualities. If Legacy wake up and finally decide to feed this monster... Watch out top 10!
#7 Mike Alstott http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/19154 - Xanthos - Chicago Monsters of Midway
I find it very easy to find superstars on teams that are not in the very top of the ladder. It is very easy to see a player that is performing in the midst of a not so amazing squad, and Xanthos' Mike Alstott is just that. The one thing that impressed me the most about Alstott is his incredibly consistent performances. He finished the season with 3783 yards and a 6.3 YPC average and 49 touchdowns. I think the most awesome part of this Joes season, and one of the most qualifying points of why he deserves to be on this list, is how he finished the season. In the all star game Alstott ran 173.5 yards and a 21.7 ypc average with 3 TDs in the game. Simply incredible performance against great defenders... And that led me to the belief that, if he can run like that in an allstar game, away from his coaches and his team scheme, then he can run like that anywhere. Class joe, Class HB. #6 in the game.
#8 Carnell Williams http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/6636 - fswa - A Good Day to Die
If there was an award for "Most likely to take it to the house", I think this guy would have to come in 2nd, only after Dooley of course. Speed kills, and I think Carnell has proven he has the skills to kill defenses in a more or less 1-2 punch with Tre over the years. He comes in so low for 2 essential reasons. 1. I have trouble believing outside of his system he would put up similar yardage and performances. 2. He tends to get TFLd, a lot, to a more damaging degree than any other player on this list. If this guy develops the ability to turn TFLs into gains, even I'm scared...
#9 Mac Google http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/18709 - ButterfingersMcGee - Sacramento B-Squad
Sacramento B-Squad is not a squad that is awfully popular, as it has no championships or high ladder finishes... However, it is home to a superstar HB. No I'm not talking superstar trait, but I'm talking about a back that took pressure off of the OC, and allowed the offense to run easily when he was on the field. Mac Google ended the season with an impressive 4673 yards and a 6.6 YPC average, racking up 52 TDs on the season. He is a rare fumbler (2.2%) but a strong performer. One can make a case that because his team journeyed in the 50-80s ladder range this season, it was easy for him to pick up stats, I beg to differ. Mac google, had the misfortune of playing in Osprey, a very difficult league, and still finished in the top 10 for League offensive MVP. This joe has talent, and that is why I believe he is the 9th best back in glb2
#10 Leecko Shine http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/18632 - Riddler08 - Iowa Rogues
Iowa Rogues, a team that ELO obviously had all messed up, started the season very high, top 15 in the ladder iirc. They swiftly suffered a tough losing spell losing the first 5 ladder matches in a row, Seemed to pull things together, then concluded the season with another 4 game ladder losing spell, including the loss of the first round playoff game. Now when everyone thinks of Iowa Rogues what is the first thing to come to mind? Usually the spectacular QB that is Laser Shine, 8k+ yards two seasons in a row with QBRs of 86.4 and 92.9. But now you should know them for something else, and no its not there bad defense, you should know them for Leecko Shine, another fantastic Riddler8 joe. Leecko Shine is a dangerous slippery runner who finished his season with close to 3k yards and a 6.5 ypc average. Highlights of his season include 106 yards with a 8.2 ypc average at the Gorilla League allstar game. 113 yards and 7.5ypc against AGD2D..
and a solid 113.5 yards with 6.7 ypc in the first round playoff game, in which they fell to the San Jose Dragons. In a sim where avoiding 3rd and long is crucial to success, big play ability is invaluable.
