Ok - season 4 here - the 2nd season for Adams. We lost some great teams (pour a sip out for my homies in Mushroom City and in Sexy). But we are only a couple games away from a new season...so let's take a look.
Alpha:
Holy Guacamole returns to protect their division title. Currently ranked at #13 in our new sophomore ladder; this team is not to be trifled with. Last year they were a run first team. Last year their legs turned to jelly and they pooped their pants any time a QB looked like he was going to run the ball. Last year they went 21-8-1. They are certainly the current leader of the pack in Alpha behind the legs of Dante Gale who rushed for 2141 yards. Will they diversify? Will they be able to hold on? Tune in and find out.
LaPaz Challengers return as well. Currently #35 in the ladder; LaPaz went 5-9 in league play....and 12-4 in ladder play. In league play they always seemed to come up just barely short. Behind a 1000 yard rushing QB; this is a team who is a lot better than their league record would indicate. Watch out for them - they will win a lot of games this season in both league and ladder.
Canton Bull Dogs return too. Currently #73 in the ladder - this team was very hit and miss. Seems like they went inactive for some of the season last year (?). Their record was 11-19 so fairly disappointing. Have they made changes this season? Will their passing game turn around now that builds are balancing out and blockers can block & pick up blitzes...and WR's can catch? It is possible! They threw for 2200 yards last season in rookie...that could very well double this year to 4500 yards with all those extra skill points.
DA BORG! is new to Adams (welcome!) Ladder rank: #44 - last seasons record was 17-12-1. They did make the playoffs in their old league...and they lost a heart breaker to top 10 team Baby Banger (I watched that game...I can't believe you LOST!?!!?!? So close if you'd just gone a slightly different way with a few plays). In any case - I would expect this squad to give Guac a real run for their money. They had 2500 yards passing last season....and a couple of solid rushers all playing opposite a stout defense. This is a nice addition to Adams. We like teams who can play here!
BETA
Minnesota Stunners - we had a lot of bounces go our way last season - ending up with an eventual championship...and #1 ladder ranking. Mostly the same roster coming back this season (a few upgrades and a few respec's). With us you definitely know what you're going to get: a lot of rushes. Like all of you - I'm waiting to see how the new sim tweaks impact my team...it seems like just about any season a change to the sim can make you or break you.
Eastern European Alliance is back. With one of the stoutest coaching staffs and agent line ups in all of GLB - I have to imagine last season was a disappointing season at 19-11. At the same time though - they've broken the top 20 in the ladder and sit at #19 right now. Their QB threw for 2700 -- and their balanced offense will be much tougher to stop this season. I expect big things from EEA in season 4.
Anchorage Snails - new to Adams. Ladder: 78. All CPU roster at the moment.
GAMMA
Nebraska Cornhuskers - 23-7 record last season. 2nd place in the league. Won their division. Current #3 in the ladder. A running squad who is very tough to deal with....especially if he turns his QB lose. Certainly favored to repeat as division champs.
Montreal Blue Knights - 71 in ladder. 11-18-1 record last season. Did not play well. Can they turn it around? I don't know.
Winnipeg Wrath - #37 Ladder. Made the playoffs last season where they lost to the All Madden team. 18-11-1 last season in a league with both Madden and the Alaska Assassins. Solid balanced offense. 6 Superstars who should start separating themselves from mortal players. This could be a very big challenge for all of us this season.
Gangsta Wit It' - Brand new team? New owner? They have a full roster with mostly a single agent having all players on the team..5 super stars - they are 2-0 in the sims they've run so far today. This could be a good team. With 3 HB's and a superstar dual threat, slow built QB - I would expect a focused running attack here.
So - who are your picks?
Because I'm a homer: I'm sticking with last seasons winners:
Guac wins Alpha
Stunners win Beta
Nebraska wins Gamma
But there sure are a lot of wild cards out there...and with a fresh start and a new season - there is no way to predict what any of these teams are going to do.
