To whom don't know, at the moment respecs reset the skill points and special abilities you spent in the current season. I don't believe there's a single soul who enjoy how respecs are dealt with in this game, starting by the misleading copy.
The respec is supposed to allow you to fix build mistakes made during a short period of time, however, the current model has no flexibility and you can't know for sure what points you'll be able to manipulate after a respec.
I'm suggesting a respec based on percentages, where users would be able to manipulate up to 30% of the skill points from each skill.
For example, CB1 gave up waiting for the Zone system to work and decided to transfer points to Man Awareness. CB1 has Zone Awareness 100, after a respect he would be able to remove 30 points from Zone Awareness and spend them on Man Awareness. This leaves CB1 with 70 Zone Awareness still. Players are only allowed to respec once a season, so perhaps CB1 decides to transfer more points next season: he would transfer 21 points instead of 30 and the amount of points would go down every season since it is percent-based. I don't even think you need the 3-respec-for-life using this, but I understand if it is kept as precaution.
We implemented this as a paid feature in a game I was a jack-of-all-trades to fix similar issues as those GLB faces (I consider user retention the toughest one, since there's a lot on stake for the user when he creates a player with little to none knowledge of the consequences). User satisfaction on the feature went above 91%, Support contact and Suggestions on the related matters went down 34%. This option is a flexible crowdpleaser that brings money into the game.
