Right now, it's incredibly difficult to test plays against specific opposing plays/gameplans. The easiest and most obvious way to fix this would be to allow our teams to set up their own playbooks and gameplans to test against themselves (ya know, like real football teams do).

Charge 25 flex per intramural scrimmage since you're basically challenging yourself. The game lasts as long as normal, but stamina and morale get reset after the offense either scores a TD or the defense stops the offense on downs. Or, alternatively, just create a clone of the both the team's offense and defense and have the team play a real game against the clone (I'd kinda prefer that option, but really, either work).

this would be epic.

but this suggestion is too good for bort & co. to make come true,
for that, i expect the ngth stamp p soon. (Or the usual ignore)

This definitely won't happen. I feel like they could use the same setup as the drop in games... Problem is this sounds like a lot of work, and when the suggestion is a lot of work, it gets a no.

I would love this - I think that it would be a lot of fun (assuming they were truly private).

I'd wondered before about the morale / endurance issues - but your clone idea solves it easily.

So go with the clone idea. I actually thought of that idea while typing up the first one which is the only reason I listed it second.

The first one has the advantage of seeing how the plays work when your players have their best chance at good dice rolls.

The second one has the advantages of likely being a lot easier to code, and for being able to see not just the plays, but how those plays are affecting your morale and stamina which help identify build problems with toughness, conditioning, and heart.

Make this happen Bort, and you will get more of my money guaranteed.

From a coding prospective this sounds really complicated

The clone idea shouldn't be. It's just filling the data values of the two team tables used by the sim with data from a single team rather than two different teams.

I'm not sure what the current code for scrimmages is, but the implementation part could be as simple as changing nothing but a single line of code. Bit more work in adding a new button to trigger that new code, but still, pretty easy.

Good suggestion if you can get WG to change their business model and give out free cookies.

Bort, I like snickerdoodles.

Doing this would basically cause scrimmaging other teams to become nearly non-existent.

It also wouldn't be possible the way people are likely wanting it to happen. I'm envisioning people wanting to make slight tweaks, run a game, slight tweaks, run a game, slight tweaks, run a game, etc. There's only so much processing power available, so it would have to be a limited number.

The most reasonable compromise might be only making it available during the off day, and it would use up your quick scrim slots. At least then it also fits thematically as "practice" or whatever.

All of that sounds perfectly reasonable - if it was still at 8 per day or whatever I don't think it would be an issue

I'm totally okay with all of that.

1. I'm much rather scrimmage internally and not expose my crazy experiments to the world until game day.

2. Slight tweaks-scrim-slight tweaks-etc is a lot of flex. I suspect Bort and you won't have a problem with that.

3. The processing power thing gets handled in point #5.

4. Off day is when I do most of my tweaks already, so that works out fine.

5. I'm also totally okay with burning up my quick scrims like this. See #1.

I think the only reason scrimmaging other teams is popular is because we could never scrim ourselves...

Of course scrimming other teams will never be nonexistent because ppl will want to try their new offense against a variety of different defenses and vice versa...
