Meet the Lincoln League:

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/league/58

Alpha's winner has not been decided yet, so that's good. That's the last good thing I have to say about this league.

Beta's winner will not matter. Both Yorick and Denver have near mortal locks on the playoffs as both of them have a pair of inactives on their schedule. The third game for both isn't an inactive owner, but the roster has a bunch of inactive agents and CPU players. So the division will be won by the winner of their match which is the second to last league game. The winner of the league will be the top seed. The loser, even though they'll have the second best record for the entire league, will be the #4 seed. So no matter (barring one of them intentionally losing what should be three easy games and the one game verus ech other) what happens from here on out, Yorick and Denver will be playing in the first round of the playoffs.

Gamma's winner might not only finish with a losing record, they might very well be inactive. They cannot finish with a winning record (7-7 is the best possible).

So what's going to happen is that the two best teams will play each other to start the playoffs. Alpha's winner will be given a nearly guaranteed bye into the championship game. Until then, alpha teams still have something to play for. Gamma only has one active team. And beta, the best division, is now nothing but meaningless games even though we're pretty far out from the end of the season.

We need bigger leagues so we can have more playoff seedings and more than two rounds so we can increase the odds that the top teams will actually be rewarded come playoff time.

I believe they don't want more rounds of playoffs -- as that is just more off days for anyone who didn't make it into the playoffs.

common discussion - even at the NFL level (wild cards / home games / re-seeding discussions / etc) - in the old days (a few years back) it always sucked that New England and Indianapolis met in the AFC championship game instead of the super bowl (same back further when my 49'ers got stuck in the shadow of the cowboys for awhile).

I agree it is a bummer but no system is perfect. I don't believe expanding the playoffs and making leagues larger really solves anything

I'm already in the playoffs.

Yorick, remember? Mortal lock on the playoffs already.

Lost Lounge, Darkside, and even Forty Two are looking really good as well

Disagree. GLB1 has bigger leagues and 50% league participation in playoffs. It's not better.

Rookie is probably one one time where something like this is excusable. You simply can't predict who will be good and who will suck when handing out/demoting teams. It could be fixed next season when they contract and re-fill leagues but it doesn't seem to be something they care much about.

I thought the playoffs determined who won the league?

The Nightmares and Cobra Kai are stuck in the same division, and are easily the class of the league.

I wasn't talking to you directly, it was a general comment to the public.

Go beta division. Yes it sucks as our league game is essentially meaningless. Who ever wins we play eachother anyway.

Why do ppl keep complaining about single examples like that? Gosh...like someone already pointed out, its as stupid as the argumentations bout the NFL every year like this year with GB getting the home advantage

Look at the second round of division games as the playoffs.

The good outweigh the bad in this playoff structure, the regular season was meaningless in GLB1.
