The question mark in my title is because I'm not even sure if this could even be coded.

But the suggestion is to have a tactical setting that modifies the QBs level of involvement after the ball has left his hands.

We all know in real life, unless the play designs for QB interaction, the QB hands off or passes the ball and then becomes a spectator.

This would help with all the speedy QBs running around getting knocked on their asses or simply wasting coveted energy after the play has gone out of their control.

2 simple options:
Active
Inactive

Active - Basically what we have now, QB will look for nearest blocking target and attempt to block or he will run around like they do now.
Inactive - After the QB gets rid of the ball, he will back up to ~5 yards or so behind the handoff spot and stay and "watch" the play develop. This will keep the QB from going and getting himself revcaked or chasing the play for 80+ yards on a big run or something.

Inactive QB also means that he will watch a LB force a fumble from HB right in front of him and let him go, standing still, right? (although I actually prefer this over having the QB draining energy after handoffs)

A while ago I suggested making blockers to stop engaging in blocking interactions once the ball carrier is long gone and that they have no legitimate shot at getting him anyway anyhow. Instead, I suggested they slowly jog towards the ball, not draining as much energy as they would have if they were in a full blocking interaction.

They never responded, btw.

If the QB is watching the play 5 yards behind, why wouldn't he try to get the ball or tackle the LB...

I'm advocating for turning off QB blocking (and everything that comes with engaging the block)... Not inactivating the QB after he hands off the ball...

Well, there are no injuries in the game (although I want an "INJ" skill that could knock a player out for some level of plays or the rest of the game, depending on how much you put into it...but I doubt most people want injuries so I will save that for another topic.)

So with no injuries in the game, this really doesnt do anything but save stamina. Which you can fix by adding stamina. QB's do block at times, esp in todays NFL (Nick Foles on the Eagles runs around and blocks quite frequently and he is not a "Scrambling QB"..at all.

I think its fine.

How about a RAIN skill where players will sometimes miss a game because they were involved in a shooting the night before at a strip club.
