Is the 10+ point max worth it vs getting a more useful ability?

It's not worth it. It's hard enough to hit maxes on a regular build. Try to just get the important skills at a max you'd like, then use traits to reduce the cost of expensive skills.

Unrelated, but think it should be stated...it isn't "man technique", it is "coverage technique".
Man Awareness is a fairly cheap skill, coverage tech is a medium cost skill...can pretty easily hard cap them both.

Best advice for sure. Slow built looks great as an original screen cap but your skills are deadly expensive. The opposite attribute is even worse in that it makes you almost useless beyond a certain point despite having a good run early on.

Basically the biggest parts of covering sometimes are the stupid skills that cost a ridiculous amount.
Same with balance. Costs a stupid amount for the silly ability to just stand after the pass.

And if it was the other way around, every single player would have maxed physical abilities like GLB.

bhall, I challenge you to show me a inspec ele screenshot of a slowbuilt build for any position where it's worth it.
You are forgetting you are losing up a trait spot. So not only are you tacking on 5% more cost, you are losing the ability to reduce good skill costs by 5-10%. So effectively you are missing out on 15% gross cost swings. Even simple positions like kicker where you can pump maxes to be at 85-90+ I've found early bloomer surprisingly to be better in the long run with use of the 3 cap boosts in seasons 4, 5 and 6.

If you are a specialty build only pumping 4 or 5 major stats, slow built is not the worst option in the world
keep in mind, the +10 to conditioning and +10 to heart as well, which lets you skim a bit on both confidence and stamina in your attribute allocation

So it's stamina, I was trying to figure out what the third attribute was - I guess that makes sense (I think I thought it was agility)
But yeah, power running sucks to max because Confidence and Stamina are such questionable attributes to pump to that level, especially with workhorse around.
There is probably a better example somewhere than power running - but the point is that slow built isn't super terrible if your building around a minimal amount of attributes anyway. It does let you skimp on attributes in other areas and often times you end up negating that 5% sp penalty on the stats you planned to cap anyway with your other two traits.
