this makes so much more sense. Season rollover seems a bit dumb

The main reason is to give owners time to resign players without penalty, and to easily find them if they didn't sign in time rather than trying to hunt them down.

In what way does it make more sense?

Because when you are trying to sign players that are replacing your expiring contracts, you have the expires clogging up roster room.

Even when you try cutting them, you can only cut down to 36 players, so they are still taking up space. I know you can sign CPU and cut the expires, but that is a waste of time.

I just went thru this because I had a team full of my own players last season that I replaced the entire roster on. It was a pain to go thru this whole thing.

You can cut players you don't want.

You can only cut to 36 players because allowing people to go below that creates all kinds of issues. If 36 is the minimum, what happens if they cut everyone and sign 20 superstars? You can't autofill to 36 at that point because even CPU would put them over the salary cap. Just let them stay over the cap? Or make them forfeit games, and rob opponents of stats?

I have no counter for that Corndog, you have bested me in this argument.

Auto-fill the rest of the team to the minimum with $1 salary CPU's with 0's in all stats

i can dig that.

it's just annoying for people like myself who would like to retire dots. maybe make the retire option available in the offseason for a player with an expired contract, like on a cpu team? idk.

It's supposed to be available during the offseason or any time while on a CPU team...apparently it's not, though.

Offseason is supposed to be like a "limited free agency", where you can basically do anything you can while not on a team, while still being on a team.

You could also, (If you have a team) sign the players from the one team, put them on your team then cut them.

ah, yeah it's not working. i can retire my dots on cpu teams obv, but the ones on expiring deals for human teams still get the big yellow message.
