So I went through the top 25 teams on the ladder at this moment and entered the following stats for each of their CBs into a spreadsheet:
Targets, Receptions Allowed, Interceptions, Forced Fumbles, Sacks, Tackles for Loss, and Hurries.

I then sorted the list by percent of receptions allowed (targets / rec all), number of takeaways (ff + int), and penetration (sacks + tfl + .5*hurries). The top fifteen names in each category got assigned points based on their position in the list (15 points for first place, 1 point for 15th). I then added up all of the points and came up with a list of who I believe to be the best (most productive) CBs in the game at the moment. Without further ado, here are the top ten in order, with point totals:

1st. Bobcat Shine (35.5) - Iowa Rogues - Riddler08 (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/18686)
2nd. Bruise “Superstar” CB (31) - TT's Wolfpack of One - Time Trial (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/11829)
3rd. Disco Violante (25) - Sunday Funday - Homage (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/7687)
4th. Bruise CB3 (22.5) - TT's Wolfpack of One - Time Trial (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/11758)
5th. Bruise CB2 (22) - TT's Wolfpack of One - Time Trial (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/11754)
6th. Jimmy Fireoak (19.5) - Annapolis Freedom - Torg (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/11737)
7th. Sebastian Torbear (15) - Alpine - Cavalier (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/6580)
T8th. Junior Bravo (13.5) - Iowa Rogues - Oneill52 (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/18876)
T8th. Willie Buchanon (13.5) - Jebediahs Oblong Ball Club - Avgbrad (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/6578)
T9th. Grand-Theft Football (13) - Murder City Devils - Jamz (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/16809)
T9th. MamaSaid KnockYouOut (13) - Legacy - CATaylor (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/15253)
10th. Swat McKenzie (12.5) - Annapolis Freedom - Torg (http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/11742)

Notes:
- I can't look at every team's CBs. If you'd like me to evaluate your CB and your team is in the top 50 of the ladder, please contact me by PM with a link to your CB. Thank you.

- Ties were given the average number of points awarded to all occupied positions. For example, if there was a tie for 1st and 2nd in a particular field, each player would be awarded 14.5 points. If there were a tie for 7th, 8th, and 9th, each player would receive 8 points.

- Where there were too many ties to fit everyone into the top 15 (for example, the last awardee in the takeaways category who had 2 takeaways and was tied with a bunch of others who also had 2 takeaways) who made the cutoff was determined by lowest %RecAll.

- These are just a preview into what I'm doing. I'll re-tally it at the end of the regular season.

Hrm... I was going to do LBs, but I guess I could do rookie CBs instead.

Edit - I'm through rookie ladder teams 1-8 and CBs barely have any stats.

He was doing great where he was and then I realized that he was kinda on his own and since the move he hasn't produced the same but he is getting help which is why ludacris has picked up.

It's funny because it's all placement on the depth chart. All my builds are really similar but you can really manipulate their stats doing certain things. Only problem is that you have to pick between one guy getting good stats or being twice as effective rotating.

This is definitely a major part. Many of the guys listed in these two threads play CB3/4/5, only a handful are starters (in this one, TT's CB is the only one who is listed as CB1). It really depends a lot on which WR position you're lined up against - if they're running a lot of WR1 hook plays, it doesn't matter how good you are, your receptions allowed is going to skyrocket.

Yeah, that's why when I was describing what I'd done, at the top, I wrote:

"a list of who I believe to be the best (most productive) CBs"

All I can reasonably measure is production. I have no way to see depth charts, etc... and this took long enough without watching replays and emailing team owners for more information. It was definitely an informative project though.

Oh I understand, I didn't mean that to put down your work at all. Just one of the inherent problems of trying to evaluate play at this position.

How are PDs and KLs not included when considering the best CB?

Cool post - always thought that was my worst CB and was going to cut him. Crazy.
