In 'he could go all the way!' situations, where all the ball carrier has to do to score is to not get caught by D from behind, defenders, if they are close enough, attempt diving tackles from the back and always fail, to only see the carrier go all the way which might have been prevented if they decided to just chase him down for a bit longer.
My question is, why are they doing this? Are they actually trying to tackle or is it some kind of their lame excuse to save their energy?(LOL) Have you guys ever seen a defender making a successful diving tackle from the back and does having a good vertical and diving even matter?
