I know there are a lot of variables when it comes to O-Linemen, What kind of offense are you running, are your HB's Power or Speed, etc... But just as a general build for a balanced O-line, which attributes hold more value? Lets just assume its a 50/50 Run/Pass and the same with Running inside and out. I thought for sure awareness was the way to go, but I beleive now it only holds more value when your running outside so your pulling linemen pick up the blocks. Which leads me to beleive technique will hold more value when your looking to Pass Block and obviously Power will be the way to go when running inside and help with outside blocking. You also haven tpo factor in what your up against with the Defense. If there are Pass Rushing DE's( and since it seems that passing is the way to go in the early seasons) POwer will not help to contain them and vice versa with Run Stopping. What are everyone elses thoughts on this? I also know Abilites will play a key role with ones like Pulling Specialist or Pancake Chef.

Awareness - "find a guy to block"
Technique - "enguage a block"
Power - "finish the block"
This is how I understand the skill points. Correct me if I'm wrong.
So for an offense with mostly straight ahead runs my Gs would be less focused on awareness, but if I ran the GB PACKERS power sweep all the time I would invest more points into awareness.

Awareness - see people in front of them, and behind them
Technique - engage the defender in a block, keep the defender engaged in the block
Power - push the defender back or down
Balance and footwork probably help tech and power in varrying amount as I've seen a bunch of tech focused guys get plenty of pancakes.
A straight ahead run G with no awareness will literally run right past a LB like he is blind without realizing he should touch him until the LB is 5 yards past him... sadness.
A G with ~50 pass awareness is instantly aware of a blitzing OLB and will move to get in position to block where he will be on his route to the QB like he knows the future or is reading the LB's mind.
No amount of awareness will stop an OLineman from deciding they should block someone out of the play or behind them instead of someone in front of them or along the ball carrier's path.
Moral of the story, no awareness and very little tech makes a worthless player unless you rely on the defender running into you, IMO.

I'd agree based on the distance away the potential block is and the speed of the blocker.
Other than that I agree with everything you said,
once you stop thinking like glb1 and start being a more open mind you will understand the sim.
just understand the sim is really a bunch of possibilities and limitations when you really think about it,
once you think you have a decent understanding of the attributes and their effects then you use that SP trick and try to build what you think will be a good player.

I def agree that Ive seen my Guards pull around to pick up a blitzing LB, but then what if his physical attributes arent built enough to actually get where he needs to be. Its such a crap shoot as to which attributes are more important to attempt to max out first. You could do the physical side, but then we would never know who to block, or you could do awareness, technique and he might never get in position for a speedy blitzing LB. I agree with Jampy about understanding the sim more and more each day.I di kinda wish there was a scouting tool so you could read more into an oppenent.

Jampy JUST said to stop thinking like GLB1. Don't max out shit first, unless you want a shitty player.

Not even just maxing, you still are gonna have a few attributes that are well ahead then most others. It all just depends on what your going for. If ya wanna try to win a few championships, I would say you wanna build your top4-5 attributes up fairly high early. IF your lookin towards the end game, then I beleive balancing the attributes would be the key. Never the less, there are too many variables to consider when tryin to accomplish a "great build" And I obviously know that no one will even know this for several more seasons untill we actually have players on the last level and still it might be unclear. I just wanna hear what peoples thoughts are on O-linemen.
But whos to say that maxing your primary's out first inst the way to go?? I'm pretty sure the only ones that have even the slightest clue, are the testers

Why would you say this, you aren't qualified to make this statement.

End build is the same whether you maxed a few certain skills out first or balanced all the way up.
Everyone should have a pretty good clue. Look at other people who have open builds.
You're purely speculating when there is observable evidence leaning towards certain results.

The only attribute that seems like it needs to really be pumped up early at the expense of other stuff is Kick Accuracy. Every other position has multiple attributes that need attention.

This is just my opinion, and I meant to say for the early seasons. And it doesnt matter if I qualified or not, I'll still say what I want. I guessing with all 1 of your players and teams you coach on makes you an expert?

I know quite a few very good players that are in the top 20 on ladder and are still guessing. Sure there are prolly several people that might know exactly what to do. And at any given time even with the perfect builds, the gameplan might be wrong and a very powerfull team can lose miserablyto a sub par team. The sim has a way of doing this.
I'm no expert nor do I try to be, I'm just posting my opinions and asking for others. Sorry I dont have the 8-10 hours a day to sit around and scroll the forums or analyze every play.

Whats even funnier about this is were 2 seasons in and your already talking about certainty
