I've seen it twice out of all the film i've watched. So gl with having it happen semi-reliably.

I actually saw it happen today. To lazy to go look it up but it was the last scrim my team ran, but if someone else is really interested in doing so go ahead. The other team actually held one back.

I saw it happen a few days ago in one of my games - HB was held in to block vs a 6 man rush. There's more blitzes with 6+ coming now so I expect to see extra blockers more often.
edit: Even managed to find it:

Of course the QB still threw a duck but hey he had time to throw it

The fact that we're all happy that we saw one or two, though, shows how this is not an ideal system. It really should happen more often, even if the defense is only blitzing one guy.

what's the QBs awareness at?

While I agree it should..my understanding is that it cant happen unless 6+ guys are coming..so if you have a 4-3 defense blitzing one off the corner the QB says ."Well, I have 5 blockers vs 5 rushers....im good"....tick tick...sack
It outta be based on non D linemen rushing, or 5+ not 6+..if any non dlineman is rushing AND the qb sees it coming..he holds a guy back or two or three or however many he needs to to match the extra guys coming

I'd think the QB should audible to hold the guy in if the current blocking isn't set up to handle it. If you've only got one guy blitzing up the middle your offensive line should be able to take care of that. Holding a back in at that point would be unnecessary.
However, if the QB recognizes and overload blitz, or something way off the edge, I could see holding a back in on 4-5 man rushes.

I believe this is already in the game. Only 5 bliters in the following play, but HB is kept in to block.

I remember it being in a thread. basically what happened was it only kicked in when 6 players were rushing and that was if a roll was passed. They may have changed that but I only say that because I just watched larssens replay We talked about changing that to forcing a back to block on a certain play but bhall was convinced it was gamebreaking because it would mess with the progressions or some shit like that
