How do I improve acceleration? My initial thought was QUICKNESS but from what I gather now that is more for changing directions or turning? SPRINTING would suggest more top end speed, but this could be another area where acceleration could come from. Anybody have the answers?

Great question, I'd like to know now as well since you got me confused. I thought it was quickness as well

straight line acceleration? quickness+sprinting and first step as a special... and snap reaction if you're asking about coming off the line

Going from a dead stop to a straight line is, technically "changing direction", isn't it? lol

Thanks for the input so far. What about times when we need our players to accelerate long after the play has started. One example might be a defender who has to turn around and then run with a receiver? Does first step still apply here, or is does it fire only at the beginning of a play.

First step still applies. It will fire any time a player is stopped or near stopped.

I have been assuming it's quickness that does it. My logic - First Step is "giant acceleration boost", First step is powered by quickness, "powered by" skills are related to the SA, so I figured...

Nope. It's going from not having a direction to having one. Totally different from 'changing' one.

That makes sense.
I guess what it comes down to is this: If my Player is facing left and then turns to his right... is quickness now finished (changing direction is over) or does it continue to effect my player through his acceleration to the point where sprinting takes over?

A logical approach. And your assumption is likely to be true. But still, you never know. Who knows if sprinting does play a role in acceleration? We just need a valid proof.

It's a work of many things. Conditioning keeps that speed for longer durations, quickness helps makes agility, sprinting does speed mostly, that is something I'm gathering. I was also wondering if footwork has some type of ability with acceleration.

Of course it does, don't be silly.

No, footwork doesn't.

Quickness is also acceleration. How quickly can you get to top speed?

This isn't that hard people. But seeing as how few people even have a tiny bit of a clue, I'm not going to shed any more light on this and just laugh. I'm starting to wonder it it really is this hard to make observations, I have some gift for noticing things here, or nobody watches more than a couple plays and then just ask a bunch of questions and guess from nowhere.
