Anyone even looking at this forum? Anyway here are the rankings for week 8. Went 4-6 for last week didn't see the wolves having a chance against Fullerton but we now no longer have a winless team in Beta! I knew the faber/erkner game would be close though didn't think it'd be a punt fest. That fumble in the 4th quarter giving Faber the FG instead of overtime will be hurting peeti for a while! Note that Texas move into number 1 spot in Gamma and I don't know who has the tiebreaker between Faber and Erkner; anyone have a quick link to the play off rules?

Week 9 Predictions:
Brisbane Bogans 28 Erkner Razorbacks 14
All Voracious Wolverines 10 RFL Boys 0
Faber Animals 21 Montgomery Wildcats 7
Regina Rebels 13 Fullerton Fury 6
Texas State Fightin Armadillos 21 New York Masons 7
Charlotte Panthers 3 Black Sea Night Stalkers 7

I'll do some proper rankings later but right now it's 1) Brisbane Bogans and that's all I care about

1. Brisbane Bogans (League 7-1, Ladder 45)

Back to number 1 for Brisbane with a dominant performance over the Masons. This another indication of the Masons inflated record due to their easier schedule over the first half of their interdivisional games. Brisbane have their biggest game of the season next week against Erkner. A win and their favourites for the league; a loss and they rejoin the pack with the championship race thrown wide open. To win though Erkner will have to stop a passing attack averaging over 300 yards a game. Brisbane take this game with Erkner still in shock after their loss to Faber.

2. Erkner Razorbacks (League 6-2, Ladder 34)

Oh dear the defending champs stumble again! This time against Faber who are fighting hard for Beta div and a wild card spot. I still have them up here because Texas hasn't convinced me lately and I can't really put Faber or the Stalkers above them yet. That being said the next four teams are all incredibly close in my opinion and I think I can claim with confidence that four of the current top 5 will be the Cougar play off teams. If Erkner can't find a way around Brisbane then they slide to 5th next week assuming Texas, the Stalkers and Faber get it done.

3. Texas State Fightin Armadillos (League 6-2, Ladder 95)

Texas became the fourth cougar team in the top 100 during the latest round of ladder games and actually move into top spot in Gamma league this week. However their performance the Wildcats was atrocious and they were very lucky to come away with the win. They have pushed Erkner down into the wild card spot (or out I'm not sure!) and control their own fate from here; if they win out they're guaranteed to be Gamma champions. The wildcats showed that if you stop their run game or force up the fumbles then Texas have nothing to fight back with. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the Masons this week. Looks to me like they'll continue their roll but they certainly look a bit weak after last weeks efforts.

4. Black Sea Night Stalkers (League 6-2, Ladder 110)

I could write the same thing here that I did last week as the Stalkers win another game on the back of their stellar defense. Struggling against Regina these days is not a good sign as the S1 runner ups have fallen a long way since then. They have breathing room now in Alpha div however and a moderately strong finish to the season should be enough to see them come away with the title. They really need to take pressure of their defense though and finalising Not Dick Bevell's contract will certainly start to do that. This week is a tricky match up for them against the Panthers who can be explosive at times. I think the Stalkers defense will do enough again to win a low scoring match but if the Panthers get a few early TDs then it will be all over.

5. Faber Animals (Dallas Annihilators) (League 6-2, Ladder 69)

Faber are managing to stay hot on the heels of Brisbane in Beta div and continued to apply the heat with a very nice win over Erkner. Although I have them in 5th a win over Texas in a few weeks or a loss by one of the teams above will see them moving up very quickly. A quietly consistent team that will be a dark horse if they manage to sneak in to the playoffs. Not sure of the tie breaker rules so unsure if they control their destiny but you have to think that winning out will ensure them a wild card berth at least if not the Beta divisional title.

6. New York Masons (League 5-3, Ladder 110)

The Masons were destroyed by Brisbane this week and it doesn't get any easier for them either. They travel to Texas next who have to be the hottest team in the league. Another loss looms as they slip further out of Alpha contention. If they do make the playoffs it will be with wins against some of the top teams and will be a big threat however it's more likely that the Stalkers advance through alpha unchallenged and that the masons fall to 8-6/7-7 by the time the sesason has come to a close.

7. Charlotte Panthers (League 3-5, Ladder 156, 5 rookie team ahead of them)

Looked good in their game against RFL and have a chance this week for an upset against the offensively challenged Stalkers. Wine claimed that chemistry was the source of all his problems at the start of the season however to prove that he needs strong showings in the second half leading in the last round of divisional games. I expect a mediocre finish from a mediocre team with the chance to spoil a few play off hopes along the way.

8. Montgomery Wildcats (League 2-6, Ladder 164, 11 rookie teams ahead of them)

The wildcats show they continue to improve with a great performance in their loss to Texas. I'm sure they're learned their lesson from this seasons roster experiment and will look to pocket a few more wins before the season is closed. However Faber will be too strong for them this week.

9. Fullerton Fury (League 3-5, Ladder 142, 1 rookie team ahead of them)

Fullerton are the most inconsistent team in the league imo. If they bring their best they have the chance of beating anyone (ie Erkner) but similarly their worst allows them to lose to any team as well! Last week they got beated by the winless Wolves finishing their season for good. They play for pride now and should be able to beat Regina this week.

10. Regina Rebels (League 2-6, Ladder 180, 18 rookie team ahead of them)

Would be very interesting to hear what Regina had to say about their downfall but it just continues in the most spectacular fashion. They'll pick up a few more wins but can be seen as an easy game by the top teams.

11. All Voracious Wolverines (League 1-7, Ladder 176, 16 rookie teams ahead of them)

And the Wolves pocket a win! Not sure where that came from but I'm putting it down to Fullerton being horribly inconsistent. This means that this weeks match up against RFL will well and truly decide who gets to take home the wooden spoon this year. The Wolves should be able to win this one and Gamma will have the joy of containing one of the worst teams in Sophomore GLB let alone Cougar league.

12. RFL Boys (League 1-7, Ladder 255, 79 rookie teams ahead of them)

RFL now rank behind even mediocre rookie teams... This ladder round they get to finally play some rookies and I expect them to lose horribly. Anyone know the situation here?

Whats up? Masons may have given up a lot of yards but the game ended up being a tie. Kinda put a damper on the hottest team in the league.

GG but god damn is this game frustrating. Had some WRs double their drops for the season... and so many fucking third and long completions on your side. Holding a rushing team to 3.5 yards per carry should be an easy win. Oh well...

Yea, this game is frustrating, especially with CBs and WRs.

Time of possession, a fumble lost, and the fact that our O-line served pancakes all day certainly showed a few other reasons for our win over you. GG

BTW I read these predictions and reports on the teams each time, I just don't post a lot anywhere. Thank you for doing them.
