Level 1's SP bonus has been given out, the first round of conference play is over, teams have begun to shake themselves from the pack, so I think it's time to look over the bottom tier's top teams.
#1 Air Raid vs #2 Louisiana Screaming Pelicans
LSP is coming off a downright domination of #16 Philadelphia Wave in their last ladder game and have a very impressive scrimmage record. Air Raid, meanwhile, won a tight one vs a different #16 (Dryden) and their scrimmage record consists of one game, where my DC decided to play with a zone D. So it's hard to know exactly where this all-passing team stacks up. When in doubt, though, I lean towards the team with 4 superstars to beat the team with none.
Air Raid, 27-20.
#3 Engage with Zorp vs #5 Harrisonburg Bulldogs
Not counting their first game, Zorp has beaten everyone by at least 40. Bulldogs are good, they'll be in the top 10 for a while. But the Zorpies are gonna play their creepy flute music all season long, with no end of the world in sight.
Zorp, 56-10
#4 Tampa Bay Thunder vs #6 Band of the Red Hand
Tampa's ridden an oddly soft schedule to a top 10 spot (the best team they've played in league/ladder is currently #61), but scrimmage wins against LSP and Harrisonburg, and ties vs Dryden and the Band, imply they do deserve to be up here, with their downright nasty dual threat QB. The Band, meanwhile, have a smothering defense that's being dragged down by my offensive ineptitude.
Do I have to predict with my own team? I'm gonna be lazy and say 7-7 tie like we did in that scrim nobody scouted for.
#7 San Francisco Cab Drivers vs #7 Doinitin Djibouti 2.0
Our top ranked one loss teams face off against each other...but Djibouti's loss was against a Sophomore team. San Francisco, meanwhile, does have a nice win on their record vs #9 Athens, but an otherwise unremarkable slate of teams in their history. They could make some noise, but not this week, against a top notch team and without any S*s.
Djbouti, 34-14
#9 Athens Bulldogs vs #10 Rappers Delight,
The first rookie ladder rematch among top teams, Athens had the Rappers well in hand on Feb 5, winning 27-3. Do the Rappers have enough cares to work out the AI kinks they had last time? I think so
Rappers, 14-10.
There are also 5 more top 10 teams (10-15 are a tie)...but I'm too lazy to do their games now/need to do real work. I might update later.
