If your only job is to get to the QB, and you're not worried about the pitch/pass/handoff, does blitz awareness actually have any other benefits than realizing you can no longer sack the QB?

Incorrect. Blitz Awareness actually helps breaking through gaps without being slowed down by blockers. This was an addition added due to the inside blitz's causing severe insta sacks on the test server. Also despite just being a pass rusher you are likely going to want to react somewhat to any rushing (even if the blitz is in inside run blitz your pass rusher utilizes blitz awareness) or maybe even eventually screens if they become anything to write home about.
