So either my FB got pancaked a couple times by a member of the coaching staff, or something gives. Player had 4 or 5 mentions on the stat page, but his play count was ZERO. Do special teams plays not count as plays?

This was a scrim by the way, if that makes any difference (it shouldn't, should it?).

I'm pretty sure special teams plays don't count as plays.

hmm...ok...so then how does that work for experience to get SPs? I'm pretty sure back in the golden age of GLB-uno ST plays DID count as plays. I could be wrong there, but all the teams I was on put the back-ups on STs so that they would get enough action to level up properly. So, does a player that plays on 4 or 5 punts, 6 punt returns, 3 kickoffs, 5 kick returns, an extra point or two and a few FG plays get max SPs?

You get max XP from games just from being under contract when the game is simmed, don't even have to be on the depth chart so you won't be losing out on any XP.

Interesting. I think back in the old days SPs were based on how many plays you played. Like if you only played in a few plays, you only got a fraction of the SPs that a player that played in 60 plays got.

You're going to get a lot of things confused if you try to base things on how GLB1 worked - it's very, very different here. Just a warning

Play count is just to make it easier to make sure you have every player seeing the field.

fair enough, but isn't playing on STs "seeing the field"? Seems like you ought to count those. My guy that played STs only likely "saw the field" more than another guy that played 13 plays...

A special teams snap count separate from the current play count might be nice

Depends.

I went with the assumption that most people don't build their DE to see them run down the field or stand around during extra points. So while they are "seeing the field", they aren't really doing what they are wanting to see them do. People who make "special teams only" players won't need to see play count because they will be in every special teams play (which is why KR/PR and K/P also don't show play count).

I mean, if I go look at my players, I don't really care how many times they ran down the field on a kickoff.

meh....I just started back so its season 1 for my players. I don't really care what they do for now as long as they're getting the SPs to level up. Like I said, I was working under the old assumption that the amount of SPs you got was dependent on playing snaps....any kind of snap....

Terrible assumption really. Even if it is a safe assumption, why not design a methodology that works for all and allow filtering, which is not complicated in the least. Also if you don't accumulate plays on special teams, what if you get a tackle on special teams? Do you accumulate those stats (clearly you do based on this thread). So I am looking for my tackle now and I think I got 3 tackles in 20 plays, but I really got 3 tackles in 40 plays (I know I am exaggerating quite a bit to make my point). I just like to know how my player is performing for everything my team is asking him to do. I do think a filter option might be nice to have, but to just not show it at all is pretty strange IMHO (okay not so humble, but).
