For example
is there a speed difference between 2 guys who currently have the same sprinting and quickness but one has a higher speed attribute
and if people have the same sprinting, quickness, and speed and agility attribute, do the have the same actual 40 time even if one is much taller and fatter than the other

I haven't played with it - but I believe the answer is that same sprinting/quickness/etc == same 40 time
Your height, weight, speed, agility, etc comes into play on how much SP it takes to raise the skills to that same level, and where your cap is

So a guy built for speed can get to 50 sprinting using a lot less SP than a big fat lineman built for strength, but they can both get there and be equally fast.
But the guy built for speed can get to 85 sprinting, and the big fat lineman can't because his cap is lower.

Yeah the attributes only affect the max cap of each skill. i tried this with a DE build and the max sprinting increased from 50 (including trait increase) to 86 when the speed attribute increase from 5 to 10. likewise quickness from 64 to 99 when agility increased from 5 to 10.

It also impacts cost. Going from 15 -> 20 sprinting is cheaper if you have 10 speed than if you have 5 speed.

No. If your attribute "Speed" is maxed out at 10, it costs less SP to take your skill "Sprinting" from 15 to 20 than it would if your attribute "Speed" was at 5.

Think of it this way - if a player has 10 in his speed attribute, he's considered a "fast" guy, if he has 1 in his speed attribute, he's a slow guy. As a freshman in college, a "fast" guy not as fast as he'll be when he goes pro, but it's easier for him to knock a few seconds off his 40 time than it is for the "slow" guy. So it's cheaper to make a "naturally fast" guy faster, than a "naturally slow" guy.

Yes the cost still increases as you go up in a skill, but it increases less if you've got 10 speed than if you've got 5 speed.

So attributes impact skill cost and caps.
