Highly doubtful. Everything I've seen says "your players will be sophomores in season 2" with a full slate of games. You should end up getting XP for your scrimmages - my nonplayoff guys already got XP for today's ladder matches.

30 games per tier - 14 league games, 16 ladder games. Playoff games don't provide xp.

You misunderstand - you will get to Sophomore at the end of the first season. There are 14 league games and 16 ladder games, which is 30 games. Every player still has 2 more ladder games remaining and will reach Sophomore once they've played those two ladder games.
The playoff games are not worth SP (I hope, I'll find out later today if they are set correctly - but I think TT would have posted a bug if they were screwed up).

Yeah, no XP for playoff games.
I did get a bonus 2000 SP as a reward for being in the playoffs though. (Lie) Man would that cause some forum rage.

I signed up on day 5 or so, so my toon is at 73% to sophomore, does that mean I'll NEVER catch up?

You had the option (which was already checked for you) to build an experienced bot, which would mean fewer games at the end of your bot's life in exchange for being caught up with the current class.

They get the experience as if they'd played today. If they do play afterwards today anyhow, they don't get double experience.
