Are Tackling Tech and Power Tackling Alternatives or Complimentary?

In other words, does the dot try to power tackle and win or fail and thats it? If so how is one or the other selected for a tackle?

Or does he try to tackle with Tackling Tech being the base skill and power tackling augmenting it?

Or is it an average of the two?

Or what?

i think you need good tackling tech for power tackling to be very useful.

the way i see it is, you need solid tackling form and then the hard hitting abilities in order to force fumbles. kinda like going tackling and then strength in glb1.

I disagree PK. My SS gets lots of FF's and he has no points in wrap up or tack tequ

I look at Tech as the art behind the tackle and power as the umpfh behind said tackle. Also grip is neat too when you are watching your defender get carried down the field.

i do notice this too. my FS got 2 FFs yesterday and i havent touched any tackling where as my SS gets none and all he does is pump tackling and speed.

RNG is a bitch. My SS with 100+ combined power tackling and tech went 15 games since pumping those without a FF, then in a scrim got 2.

You gotta have some force behind that strength bro.

If you include the scrimmage games i have 13 FF's. 6 in league and ladder games. Gotta have "hold ground", thats the secret

Just that my DEs with 0 points added to Tackling Tech and Power have 4 FFs each, and they don't have more than 20 sprinting/quickness, and they make fewer tackles per game.

Seems like there needs to be more to the FF roll than weight.

Well All qb's at this stage in the game are fumbling a shit ton. Its different hitting a QB vs a RB

The FFs are against the HBs.

The DEs that aren't getting FFs are getting sacks. The DEs that aren't getting sacks are getting FFs. I've seen them, it is almost always FFs where the HB is at or around the LoS.

On the other hand, I see QBs with no points in carrying grip having no problem scrambling out of the pocket and getting hit 10 yards up the field, dead on, by someone with 100+ combined tackling, and the QBs almost never lose the ball.

I dont know what to say then except momentum might me a big factor. If the Rb is at a stand still and the DE is above 50% of his max speed they could very well cause a lot of fumbles
