I have been noticing that it seems I have players lining up in positions in which they are not on the depth chart.

in the examples below my SS is playing ROLB. I have checked and double checked my depth charts and no where do I have him as an ROLB other than goal line defense. for some reason he keeps playing ROLB in other situations and I cant figure out why.

Because both of the players on your ROLB depth chart were in the game in other positions, so it pulled the next best thing.

Edit: Looking at your DC, maybe not. Hmm.

It looks like it used your LOLB depth chart for all of the linebackers? The MLB is also only on the DC for LOLB, then the LOLB is on the LOLB DC, so it tried pulling another from your LOLB DC for ROLB and saw it was empty so pulled SS.

...maybe?

yeah I am pretty sure I dont have the players listed on my DC for ROLB listed anywhere else, except the back ROLB is also listed as an inside LB sometimes

im not sure that I understand this...

there are time when I only have 1 player in a spot on the DC and he will still being substituted for by someone not in that spot on the DC.

Should it not only pull back ups from the listed ones in a that certain DC slot and if there is not another player then it sticks with who is the number 1 player on the DC.

I've seen issues on offense as well. Free safeties playing offensive line positions doesn't work well...

I stopped at the end of the first quarter. I also noticed a LB playing DE but wasn't paying as much attention to the defense.

Perhaps this is an issue with the Use Backup option? I noticed on many of those plays neither the starter or backup was used. Does each option under "Use Backup" correlate to an energy level?

I figured out what started our problem. We set up our ST depth chart. We had offensive linemen on kick and punt return teams to leverage their blocking. I assume their energy reached a really low point because of this which started causing subs. It just seems weird that it could grab CBs and FSs to play OT. I switched to our previous ST depth chart and didn't see the issue.
