That seems very odd. Wouldn't it be better to rather give the SP to the player when he actually plays in a game? If he hasn't been able to find a team, the SPs could be rewarded at roll over. No reason to give an advantage at this stage.

There is also another bug with ladder games, where players currently don't get SP at all.

I believe they've added logic to ensure an experienced player doesn't get "today's" SP at creation and again at gametime. A player created before the game will have a slight benefit compared to other players but will have 0 chemistry. Right now that's not a big deal but it will become bigger.

Supposedly if you create a player on ladder day or game day and then play a ladder game or league game, you get the SP for that day when you make the character, but if you join a team and play a game for them you'll receive no SP.

I noticed that I only got xp for one of my players on the same team, but not the other one on the exact same team. What gives?

It also looks like Ladder games aren't affecting chemistry at all either.

You get the SP early, but the chem hit and the mere 750 SPs isn't going to convince people to do this.
