Having a hard time wrapping my tiny brain around this.

It looks like the D tactics page allows you to call plays based on down/distance (distance defined up top of page).

However, it looks like the defensive playbook doesn't allow for the same function. It more or less allows you to call more than 2 plays per set based on amount of WR's.

Here is my question: How do the two relate?

Is the relationship between the two based on pre-loaded playbooks (Bal, zone, man, etc)vs. the tactics? If so, how does custom built playbooks affect the tactics page?

I did notice that each defensive play in your playbook has a short/med/long designation to it, so let's say i put 5 plays in the playbook vs. 2WR sets. Is the likelihood of one of those 5 plays being called directly influenced by the tactics set up? Meaning, do I need to have a short, a med and a long play for each WR set in the playbook? OR, are those plays simply called based on the 5 bar frequency tab (on each individual play), and the D tactics page is therefore ignored on a custom playbook?

I hope that makes sense.

I understand what he's saying.

If the opposite team use a 2 WRs formation in 3rd and 12+ yards.. it is a LONG type of play. But there arent any "Long" plays in 4-3, 3-4, nickle, dime in man to man.

You can find some in zones like cover 4...

Can you play a "short" type of play like a cover 0 all out blitz even if the offense has to go 10+ yards ? If you wanna do so, do you have to set your % higher in short ? even if you know 10+ is a long play.

hard to explain but DCs will probably understand

In your tactics :

3rd and very long (10+ yards)

Pass Short : 0%
Pass Medium : 10%
Pass Long : 80%

Inside rush : 0%
Outside run: 10%

Does that mean they won't pick any play in your playbook because only have "short/medium" plays in my 2WRs formation defensive playbook

The short/medium/long defense percentages match up with the short/medium/long designations as shown on the play diagrams (as well as zone/man/blitz).

If you don't have a matching play in your playbook for what you specified, it will just try and choose the next best match. So if you say you want "long defense" and you have zero long plays in the playbook, it will choose a medium one instead. Or if you say you want a blitz play but didn't select any, it will ignore the blitz setting and choose the next best match.

ok but is it possible to add some man to man blitz in the "long" type of plays.

Let'S say I'm 3rd down 10 yards versus I-Formation

I want a 3-4 ROLB blitz man to man underneath and zones on top, its not possible right now because this type of play is "short" or medium.

THat means I have to put 0% in Pass Long and add more in short/medium ? even its 10+ yards ?

If you don't want to use "long" defenses vs 2 WR sets, just don't put any "long" 2WR defenses in your playbook. Then it doesn't matter if you choose long defense % or not - it will never call a long defense.

Or you can enter more short or medium defense percentages in your tactics to call more short/medium type plays if you wanna be more aggressive.
