The Passing Replays do not show the target that the QB is looking at.

Nope, I'd look too messy now that we have a techmo bowl view of the field, as opposed to the bird eye view from GLB1...

All they would have to do is highlight a receiver in a different way. Like with a square or a diamond. There are many innovative ways they could do it. It doesn't have to be the straight or dotted line like GLB1.

So what does awareness and such do? The way it's written makes it sound like the QB looks at the targets and goes down the list for the play quicker. But if the QB doesn't even look at WRs period...

QB is still reading routes, just not the way it worked in GLB1. It's possible that awareness also affects things about the targeted receiver too, like if the QB throws a jump ball or diving catch type pass to a well covered receiver with good diving or vertical.
