Here some questions to the GMs of the Hellhounds and Raiders

2. What is your plan to get away with a win?
3. As promotion is close, do you think you are prepared for the Eastern Europe AAA #1 league?
4. What do you have to do to be competitive in League 2?
5. Who is the team in our conference that has surprised/ disappointed you the most this season so far?

1. Are you excited about this game? Absolutely. I have a good competitive relationship with one of their GMs, and I think both teams have had this game circled on their schedules for a while now. This game will almost certainly decide who has homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, so there's a financial motivator involved here as well.

2. What is your plan to get away with a win? I think it all starts up front. They have the unquestioned best defensive line in the league, and I don't think it's even close. These guys can flat out get after the QB. If we want to get out of this game with a win, we have to find a way to keep our QB off the turf.

Defensively, it's no secret that the Raiders love to throw the ball. I don't think we can go into the game and realistically expect to stop their passing game. The hope is that we can contain it to the point that we can limit the amount of damage they do. Red zone defense will be the key. If this game becomes a kickers' duel, we like our chances.

3. As promotion is close, do you think you are prepared for the Eastern Europe AAA #1 league? I've talked with Zach (owner of the Harlem Hustlers) about the move up to AAA on a couple occasions. It's a different world up there. Their weakest teams are still head and shoulders above our cellar dwellers. We've grown accustom to 40 point blowout wins over the last two seasons. It's a safe assumption that we'll have to fight for everything we get in AAA. I'm anxious to see how we do up there, and y'all know I want another crack at the Hustlers. That should have been us getting mangled by the Maulers, but that's another rant for another day.

4. What do you have to do to be competitive in League 2? I think you have to have a complete team. When you look at what we've done, and what the Raiders have done, you see teams who can beat you with their offense, defense, or STs. There are some really good offenses in EE AA2. But scoring points is only half the battle. You have to stop the other team from scoring as well.

5. Who is the team in our conference that has surprised/ disappointed you the most this season so far? I have to say it's Kharkiv. I thought the Blazers were a team on the rise last season and expected real brawl when we saw them this season. They had a DT, LB, and WR who were easily among the league's elite. Now those players have been scattered across the globe and the Blazers are basically a ghost. I'm really disappointed they fell apart, and I still don't know exactly what led to their demise.

1. Are you excited about this game?

This game is huge for us. It is no secret that the Hellhounds beat on us into the ground last season. I have been looking forward to this game since we last lost to them in the playoffs. This should be a good warm-up for when we possibly meet them in the playoffs to see who gets to beat the likely Alpha representative "Lookouts."

The Lookouts are good, but they would be fighting for 3rd or 4th in Zeta. Judging by the conversations between Cruzi and the Outlooks, I am sure he would love to get a piece of them.

2. What is your plan to get away with a win?

Our defensive line versus their offensive line is probably the best positional matchup of this season. Whoever wins that battle likely wins the game. Turnovers have to be kept to a minimum.

3. As promotion is close, do you think you are prepared for the Eastern Europe AAA #1 league?

Maybe...they play a different game up there. Positionally, we are solid in alot of areas, but some of those teams are a step or two ahead of us. I love to play spoiler!

4. What do you have to do to be competitive in League 2?

The biggest thing is to find a group of really good guys and do everything you can to keep them together and growing with one goal in mind. I cannot speak for any other teams, but the Raiders are a product of their players. I have to say that I have the finest group of guys in the game and the loyalty and focus on winning the championship has produced a dominant team with a great attitude.

5. Who is the team in our conference that has surprised/ disappointed you the most this season so far?

There have been several. I am very diappointed in the turnover in owners. There were several good teams last year that have taken a step back and been abandoned by their owners. This is not fair to the players and is a big drag on the league as a whole.

Cruzi - Good luck in our upcoming game, your team has been a bright spot in the league since the start.

I appreciate the love, mike. I got lucky like you did. I managed to bring in a great group of guys who got a taste of where the team was going and couldn't resist building a couple more players to fill the roster. Had a few buds from a Raiders fan site (irony can be fun) jump in as well.

This is going to be a really good game, I think. Two teams, both with legitimate arguments as to who's the best in the league.

R3 is definitely not the same team we treated like a speed bump last season. I look forward to a close game.

I'd wish you good luck, but I think to much of you to lie to your face like that.

The Hellhounds appear to have the numbers on us right now. I'm hoping we have a few guys boost before the game, or else we might need the rare upset. It's gonna be a good game, for sure, and probably not the last time we play each other this season.

Before the big match Cabalvision is proud to present an interview the kicker leading the league so far.

Red Raiders

Cale Longwell (CL),

LG: your team is one of the favorites for the league title. Do you think the Raiders can beat the Hellhounds and why?

CL: Absolutely I think we have a chance to beat them! I wouldn't much of a competitor if I didn't now would I? No disrespect intended to Coach Cruzi and the 'Hounds...they're a great team and I'm looking forward to playing against them. But this team is full of guys who expect to win, week in and week out. If you ask them I'm sure they'ds say the same. In a few days, we'll get a chance to prove ourselves, one way or the other.

LG: You are the best Kicker this season so far. Would it mean a lot for you to win the Golden boot and why?

CL: I'd love to win the Golden Boot so long as we also win the title and move up to AAA which is our goal for this season. If we don't get the title, the boot is nice, but I won't feel like I did enough, ya know?

LG: Your contract expires middle of season a. Could a big offer from another team tempt you to leave the Raiders?

CL: That's hard to imagine man. Especially while my teammates and I are in the middle of a title run season. I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize and save business for the off-season. What i can tell you with absolute certainty is I love these guys, this team and feel at home here.

Thank you for the interview

Thanks for the bulletin board material for my defensive players.

I tacked it up in the locker room, took one look at their glaring eyes and frothing mouths and gave them one simple instruction...

"Do work son...do work."

Cale Longwell is a great kicker and there's no doubt about that. However, I challenge his self-appointed title of "best kicker this season so far". There's another kicker with just as many FG's as him, and a higher accuracy percentage as well (90.2% vs 94.9%). He was also created a mere two days after Cale Longwell and is the reigning "Gold Boot" recipient. His name is Shiskebwe Sharper and he is my dad.
