It has been a fine year in season 3 of GLB football. Some of us haven't had the greatest of starts while others are enjoying the view from the top. Don't worry though because there still may be hope for the teams on the bottom half of the league. For example... the Zebras have faced nearly all of the top teams in the Lion conference and now will face most of the bottom half of the conference, I see that they can potentially make a playoff run. Don't get me wrong though, some teams in the bottom half of the conference can still put up a fight and may pull an upset somewhere down the road... now on to predictions of the week.
Carthaginian Horde vs. Windhoek White Rhinos
The Horde failed me last week but that's okay. I plan on taking the White Rhinos in this game since they are overall the better team when comparing players. The Rhinos should make the playoffs and have a better second half of the season than they did in the first.
Rhinos 27, Horde 9.
Valla Beach Woolsheds vs. Madagascar Mobsters
So what exactly has gone wrong with the Mobsters? Only they know... actually I don't even think they know. Oh well I'm not going to jump at any conclusions with their team but I do know that the Woolsheds will win this game. They have beaten 3 of the top 8 teams and have lost to 2 of the top eight. This means... they're good, yes they are.
Woolsheds win 27-6.
Oum-Chalouba Zebras vs. Malawi Pride
One word... Zebras. With a favorable second half schedule I think that they could possible get above .500 and make a playoff run. It starts here Zebras against the league's worse. Pride... at least win one game down the road...
Zebras take it from the away team, 24-7.
South African Ridgebacks vs. Nairobi Warthogs
One of the conferences best versus worse? This should be a blowout...
Ridgebacks D stands for domination as they win 37-3.
Zimbabwe Headhunters vs. Mombasa Spears
Finally... a close game. At least I think so. The Headhunters went on a losing streak before getting a win last week while the Spears have lost two in a row against great teams. I think the Spears will win this one because they have the better defense... and I'm all about defense.
Spears 13, Headhunters 7.
Buckeye Nation vs. Calumet Wolverines
This should just be another stepping stone on the way to the playoffs for the Buckeyes. Can the Wolverines prove them wrong? Or will these two weeks for the Buckeyes just be in preparation from the soon to be great game next week when the Nation clash with the Ridgebacks.
A blowout in favor of the Nation... 31-7
Cape Town Billievers vs. Kalahari Vikings
The Vikings won against the Horde which went against my predictions but this week I still choose them to lose. I'd like to say that the Billievers have gone through most of the tough teams already with 3 more good teams left to go through. Will they be able to make a playoff run? Maybe with a win today... but will they make the playoffs? I don't think so.
Billievers win it 14-6.
Zambia Lions vs. Niger Mambas
The Lions have gone through some of the toughest teams in the conference nearly unscathed and they end that streak of good teams against the Mambas who they should win against. The Mambas meanwhile... have the toughest part of the schedule coming up.
Lions win with a touchdown right before the end of the game 20-10.
